What's the best place to get one if I'm driving from Munich down to the Tirol ? Any suggestions gratefully recieved

Around the Rosenheim area, watch for signs. You can buy the vignette from service stations before you get to the border, and at the border.

Where are you headed for in the Tirol? If it isn't too far past Kufstein, you could opt for the backroads ~ still good roads, and, at peak times, not much slower.
From memory, the back road turn-off is Kufstein Nord.

That is the same journey as I do, when I do car hire. I come off at Kufstein Nord ~ but please check this yourself, I'm not paying your 120 Eu fine!

Then you follow the signs for Worgl. I guess you know your way from there.
