Hi,
I am trying to decide whether to book a week's skiing ( at Easter) in Tignes or Val D'Isère I know that Val is expensive but i intend to book a hotel with half board. My concern is snow or the possible lack of it. Is it just as easy to get to the glacier from Val as it is from Tignes? Or does anyone have any other suggestions. We are intermediate skiers.
Thanks

Which Glacier to you want to visit in Espace Killy, both Tignes and Val D'Isere have Glaciers?

Sorry - showing my ignorance. Tignes is often referred to as one of the most reliable resorts because of the Grande Motte so i assumed that this is the glacier poeple referred to when Val was also described as well placed for glacial skiing. Maybe both resorts are just as reliable and convenient then.
Thanks

Tignes is made up of several villages linked by lifts, pistes and the free shuttle bus. The funicular up to the Grande Motte glacier starts in Tignes Val Claret.
I've only been to Tignes, so I'm not sure, but I think Val D'Isere and Tignes are only linked by pistes and lifts, not by the free shuttle bus.
As Bandit says, Val D'Isere also has it's own glacier but I don't think it's as big as the one at Tignes.
Anyway, both Tignes and Val D'Isere are high altitude resorts with very good snow records so I should think you'd be fine with Easter ski-ing staying at either of them :D

The hotel i am looking at in Tignes is in Tignes le Lac. It sounds as if both resorts will be fine. Thanks.

Just got back from Val and like you, was worried about lack of snow. We went on tenth of December and it did`nt start snowing until the week prior to our departure.
I would`nt worry about snow levels as it has`nt stopped for the last fortnight and they now have had more snow than in the whole of last season !!
We had one blue sky day, but after that it was very difficult conditions.
In hindsight, we wish we had gone later in the season, so I am sure you will have fantastic conditions at Easter.
Be careful what you wish for, as we found to our dismay.
