Work Until 6pm In The UK, Be Skiing The Alps At 8am

J2SkiNews posted Nov-2011

A new shuttle bus service from Zurich Airport to Engelberg at 11pm at night means that skiers arriving on 27 different evening flights from around Europe can be in the resort soon after midnight ready to ski after a good night's sleep.

Engelberg-Titlis is the closest snowsure ski resort to Zürich Airport and now offers the late shuttle transfer each Thursday and Friday until late April. It takes less than 90 minutes to reach the resort but those intending to use the service must register to do so at least 48 hours in advance before their arrival via www.engelberg.ch/en/airport_shuttle

Evening flights from Birmingham, London City, London Heathrow and Manchester all connect with the shuttle.

Engelberg-Titlis is open from October to late May thanks to the Titlis glacier, which lies 3,020 metres above sea level and extensive snowmaking elsewhere.

Good news...that might an excellent alternative to the 6am red-eye flight from Heathrow!

Is the snow train full of like minded skiers? Is it a bit of a 'party train'?

Snow Train, you either sit for 8 hours and pay around £30 over flight prices...or pick up a couchette berth in Paris, then get kept awake all night by inebriates...or sit up in your seat all night on Eurostar as they don't do beds. Mostly all going to the Tarentaise resorts, though for the independent minded you can now get trains to the Arlberg.
Is the price for Engelberg one way????

Yes, the public transport alternative is a train / tram / bus journey which departs Zürich airport at 22:40 and arrives in Engelberg at 00:40, CHF 60.40 single or CHF 120.80 return.

It's also possible to get from Paris to the Valais ski resorts by TGV in winter http://www.tgv-lyria.com/main/FCK/File/site_en/network_map/network_map.asp

Eurostar is not very comfortable and you don't get a lot of sleep. But £39 for two extra days on the slopes is a bargain.
