Hi all,

I found out that my wife is buying me ski's for christmas, happy days :D! She's able to get the above ski for £345 (new) including bindings, her Uncle is a ski instructor and can get a special rate. Is this a good price? Does anyone have experience of there performance, etc. I'm mostly a piste skier, but always looking at pushing the boundary!

Any pitfalls I should look out for? I know I should try them out first, but in Ireland there is limited opportunity to do so, and if I wait to go to Austria in January to buy, I won't be able to avail of (what I believe is :)) a good deal.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Looks a very nice ski and a very nice price!

Salomon say...
High-performance all-mountain ski combining Powerline for unrivaled stability and control with all mountain rocker for more terrain versatility. For skiers who ski 80% on-piste.

More info here - www.salomon.com/uk/product/enduro-xt-800.html

I've not skied on the Enduro but the XT800 looks very similar to the X-Wing Tornado of the past few years - which is/was a superb all-mountain ski.

Make sure you size it right but you'd better get your wife something special too.

Don't suppose she could get any more at that price??? just asking...

Thanks Admin,

It does seem like a dood deal. I'm going for 168cm, I'm just shy of 6'0.

Oh, there has been a mention of Jimmy Choo (she must think I'm made of money)....but I didn't realise he made SKi Boots....!!

I believe the deal is a once off, but I'll certainly find out for you. We have to look after our ski buddies in these recessionary times. Wouldn't it be funny if Spain, Italy, Greece and Ireland ended up in the one group at the European Championships! No one could afford to go to the matches!

I'd say looking at the specs, this is a big step up from the x-wing. This looks to be Salomon's offering in the all mountain race spec ski stakes. Not sure if those are full sheets of ti, but the construction looks very well speced. Should be a great carving ski on ice, with a little more width for softer conditions.

This is on my list of skis I want to try this season.
because I'm so inclined .....

Trencher,

Thanks so much for your input, sounds like a really good buy then. . . hope I can handle them. I'd class myself as a good intermediate, so I'm delighted I'm getting something that, with practice, will help me go to the next level.

And if its on your wish list, well, enough said!

Thanks again.
