Hi

I need to improve my posture. On skis that is. I've got into some bad habits.

Does anyone know any exercises to stop me sticking my bottom out, please? So hips forward, weight further forward. Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

If you have been working on this and have not made progress, you may need some toe lift. You could try a folded piste guide under the toes of your boots for a run, and see how it feels. You should be looking for between one and two mm of lift max with this method. If you find it works for you, you will need a spacer under your front binding, or on the sole of your boot.

Of course the best way to know is to have a stance analysis done by a boot fitter.

Hi

Well I'm supprised by that answer. I've actually got my heels lifted because I thought that would help. So I'm doing exactly the wrong thing!

A stance analysis wouldn't see me in action. But I will look into this.

Any tips for while I'm actually on the slopes?

CLT, have your stance looked at 1st to see where your weight is centred underfoot. What you are describing reads like a Skeletal stacking issue. Getting everything lined up will make you a stronger skier. The tiniest adjustments may make a whole heap of difference.

Seems weird I know, but lifting your heels tends to make you stick your butt out to counterbalance.

Try thinking of rolling your pelvis to push your upper thighs forward, rather than just pushing your hips forward.

I might have had this stance analysis done. I went to Profeet in Fulham. None of the boots were as good as my old ones so I stuck with them, but I have got moulded insoles now and they gave me the heel lifts.

I did have aload of printed out stuff, colourful stuff which showed where my weight is/was, in Fulham if not up an Alp. All very clever, but not much use, I thought.

Has anyone been to the UK Ski Test Tour? They do a boot check up. Is it any good does anyone know?

Are you using the same skis as you did when the analysis was done? The ramp angle varies considerably between binding manufacturers. You may find that going to a binding with no ramp will help.

Ramp angle is the difference in height between the toe and heel pieces.

No. No skis involved in this analysis. Just this machine which tells you where your weight is distributed and a plumb line!

Up until now I've hired skis. However, I've just bought my first skis which are Rossi Z5.
