We are planning a family holiday for next winter. We will have grandparents and 1yr old child who wont be skiing therefore we need somewhere that'll be good for skiers but also good for non skiers. eg. Nice town centre to look around, shops, walks etc. Anyone got the perfect solution? Please!!!!

And somewhere with gondolas/cable cars - even when not skiing it can be fun to get up the mountain as a foot passenger.

We went with non-skiers to Chamonix in Jan 2011 and loved the food, wine, shops, and MOUNTAINS! KangaSki

Murren, Switzerland. Hardly any shopping to be done here but the village is car-free,with a great sports centre offering a certified nursery which the parents can stay, indoor swimming pool for the adults and a small one for young children plus ice skating rink etc etc.It has amazing views and loads of gentle walks.A superb lift system in place(trains, cablecars etc) so that you can easily meet the rest of the family up on the slopes or they can ski down to you.

We have been taking our little ones here since the age of 13 months (now aged 5yrs old and 19months )and can't fault it just make sure they are wrapped up well.
