I AMA trying to find somewhere reasonably quiet to ski in france during half term as I broke my arm last year and have lost a bit of confidence. I'M a slowish intermediate, la clusaz looks good but I wondered if anyone has been there in half term how crowded the slopes get. Any info appreciated.

The village gets very busy - we've been there when the roads through the village have been in gridlock. However, there's plenty of space for people to spread out on the slopes.
Start the day by going up the Beauregard gondola and head for Merdassier or Beauregard sectors where there are mostly blue, tree-lined pistes.

France gets crowded, so the easiest solution is ski in a different country :D

Thanks both - Bandit I love my 'apartments' cant stand the rigour of having my meals at the same time every day and when I'm told! Cant seem to find any good apartments anywhere else? Thanks again.

Seriously? Every other country I have skied, has larger, cleaner apartments. Only in France can you be offered 29sqm to sleep 6.

Yep, As Julia said, the town can get busy at half term, but the crowds seem to disperse on the hill. Having lived here for 4 years and Morzine for 2, I can say that the difference at that time of year is HUGE. You will rarely que for a lift in La Clusaz, which is quite rare anywhere in Europe. For intermediate you will enjoy the Beauregard, Croix Fry, Medassier and Etale sectors - nice and sunny too. As for apartments, they are not all tiny in France Bandit, but it can seem that way i agree!!

I agree with that point skied France for many years and yet have never stayed in a overcrowded 29 sq m apartment that sleeps 6......... very odd

Wickers, I kid you not, just counting the beds in apts (sorry) shoeboxes we have rented in major resorts left us a tad appalled. I suppose the most amusing example we rented was a studio for 2 in Les Deux Alpes, which was 11sqm and via a major UK Tour Op. We arrived, unpacked, then packed again when we saw there really was nowhere to put anything. Sleeping area was in front of the coin cuisine sink. Never again. We now have 45sqm for 4 and a pal in the village has 75sqm, again for 4, not in France though :D
