Hey folks

My girlfriend and I are about to book a holiday at this residence:
http://www.skibed.co.uk/ski-resort/le-corbier/les-alpages-du-corbier.aspx

It's costing us £700 for both of us, all inclusive basis. Price also includes ski hire and lift passes for Les Sybelles. It's for the second week of March.

This is our second time skiing (been once before on a school trip) so we don't have much experience when it comes to booking the holiday.

I know Les Sybelles is pretty high up so there should be plenty of snow but what else should we look out for? Also, what do you think of this particular package?

Has anybody been to Le Corbier/Les Sybelles? What are your impressions? Pros/cons etc.

Any help/advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

5 of us are going there on Saturday for a week and we went 5 or 6 years ago. £350 each sounds good to me (is that half-board? still reasonable if not). 'Fraid I don't know you accomodation though.

It's a surprisingly large resort with around 310km of piste with some good days out to St Sorlin d'Arves for example. It's a good resort for intermediates esp. in La Toussuire which is a giant bowl. For such a large resort few of the big UK operators go there and you won't encounter many non-French people.

Le Corbier village itself is a series of tower blocks linked by a passageway at ground level with all the amenities you need. There are a few good bars and restaurants but don't recall a nightclub (we go for the skiing).

My wife and a friend bought skis there as they were very reasonably priced.

We have thought about going to this area too so will be interested to hear how you get on. Hope it all goes well.

Hi

I went to Le Corbier in December with Rocketski. Really cheap...£310 plus pass and skis. Resort is really OK my main gripe being the flog by button lift to get to the other two resorts. Also getting back in low snow conditions means retracing your steps with one one way back from each of the other two sites. Other than that is was great value and would go again. Basically very French with a few Dutch and German folks but most people DO speak english. Beer and food prices not bad for France.
Carving leaves me all on edge

Hey guys

Just a little update. It turned out that the above mentioned package didn't include flights & transfers, and it worked to be too expensive if purchased separately.

We went ahead and booked another one with DirectLine Skiing in Brides Les Bains with an area lift pass for The 3 Valleys. This is costing us about £1,100 including flights, transfers, accommodation, lift passes, ski equipment. We're leaving this Saturday and we're super excited!

The accommodation looks very decent. Indoor swimming pool, sauna, on-site restaurant and bar, and it's not far from the lifts.

:D

That sounds very cheap to me - a real bargain. I should think the 3 V's lift pass must be about £200 each on its own, and we pay about £100 each for hire of skis and boots.

I have heard that Bride-Les-Bains is cheaper than the other 3 V resorts - presumably because of the long gondola ride to Meribel (about 20 mins I think). Presumably it's self-catering?

Have a great time :D

Sounds good though the gondola ride up from Bride is a bit of a pain - probably around 30 minutes.

The 3V is a wonderful ski area and I am sure you will enjoy it. Given you are only on your second trip, I would strongly recommend ski school for the week. From memory, Magic in Motion operate in Meribel and are pretty good.
