The elegant town of Merano / Meran is linked by two-stage cable car to its own extensive ski area and is also on the 265km Ortler ski pass, which brings in another ten neighbouring centres. There are two climatic health resorts sited above Meran on a plateau 1250-1600m above sea level. Hafling and Voran offer peace and relation.

Meran 2000

The Italian ski resort of Meran 2000 is part of the Ortler Skiarena area with access to 123 individual pistes. In addition to the skiing in Meran 2000 itself (40km of pisted ski runs), the appropriate ski Lift Pass will allow you to ski or snowboard in the other Ortler Skiarena ski resorts of Haideralm, Latsch Tarscheralm, Maseben, Mendel Ruffrè, Pfelders, Reinswald, Rittner Horn, Schnalstal, Schöneben, Schwemmalm, Sulden am Ortler, Trafoi am Ortler, Vigiljoch, Watles and Minschuns.

The ski resort itself is above 1500m, so skiing or boarding back to the resort is usually possible. With skiing above 2000 metres, snow cover is generally reliable.

Snowmaking :- Meran 2000 is able to augment natural snow, on 40km of ski runs, with 20 Snow Cannons.

Ski Lift Capacity :- The 7 Ski Lifts of Meran 2000 are able to uplift 8,500 skiers / snowboarders per hour.

There are three Airports within two hours drive, so ski weekends, snowboard breaks and short ski holidays to Meran 2000 are perfectly feasible. Bolzano Airport is just one hours drive away, in good driving conditions, so you can be on the piste quickly.
