Krippenstein - Ski Resort and Snow Summary
Krippenstein - Ski Resort in Dachstein West, Austrian Alps - 11km of Piste
Key Facts for Krippenstein
In addition to the skiing in Krippenstein itself (11km of pisted ski runs), the appropriate ski Lift Pass will allow you to ski or snowboard in the other Dachstein West ski resorts of Abtenau, Annaberg, Gosau, Katrin - Bad Ischl, Obertraun/Dachstein and Rußbach.
The Dachstein West Ski region comprises 6 different ski resorts, each with its own unique feel.
The Krippenstein in Obertraun offers a limited amount of skiing for piste bashers, but for those that enjoy something a little more exciting/challenging this little known resort has a lot to offer, with an extensive range of Off-Piste opportunities.
It is also the venue for the Red Bull White Rush and the locally revived Sekundenjagd, both Off-Piste races with minimal rules, not for the faint hearted.
It has also has had an exceptional snow record in recent years from Xmas through to April, which along with its relaxed and uncrowded skiing means it is well worth a visit, as Warren Miller found in his recent film Off the Grid.
There are two Airports within two hours drive, so ski weekends, snowboard breaks and short ski holidays to Krippenstein are perfectly feasible.
