Thanks for the reports, keep them coming.

Is this one of the worst seasons ever?

It's a shames to see and hear these reports. Myself and my bro have been to Borovets for the last couple of years, and have thoroughly enjoyed it.

Having said that, by the 3rd day last year, some of the lower slops were a bit icy and in need of a good snow fall. But isn't this a risk you take with most destinations?

A drop in temperatures last night led to a small amount of snow (2-3cm). We didn't think it worthy of the snow alarm simply because it won't make any difference in real terms.

However the low temperatures overnight meant the snow cannons could operate so Yastrebetz is open, as is the gondola (only to ski down to Yastrebetz 2 & 3 and Popangelov.

Two drag lifts on the nursery slope in front of the Rila Hotel are open.

It's sunny but staying cold so there is certainly hope for more snow!

With temperatures remaining cold for the last few days it's no surprise (and a big relief) that the snow has started falling. It's been snowing lightly in the resort since about 9am this morning. With temperatures forecast to stay cold it looks like there'll be more snow coming & winter is finally with us!

It has been snowing constantly since yesterday. There's 1-2 inches of fresh snow at the bottom & about 5cm at the top providing a solid base on which to build. The snow cannons were on yesterday but are not operating on the slopes in front of the Rila. They are still operating on Yastrebetz.

The gondola is open again for skiiers down to the Yastrebetz chairlift but it is still pretty difficult!

Shuttle bus from gondola to Yastrebetz is still operating as it is not recommended to ski down from the gondola.

The Sitnyakovo Express chairlift has been closed for the last couple of days but is open today for walkers only

Well I really pity anyone trying to ski at Borovets this week. They must be very disappointed, especially when there is so much snow around in the UK now!

Are they bussing people to other ski resorts in the vicinity, or is there no snow anywhere?

I didn't know they had put on a bus ...used to be 10 levs in a droshky...or a long walk

DaveD,
I was just remembering that when we were there - ? 7 years ago - we had a day with rubbishy snow as well, and one of the ski instructors took his group off on a bus to another resort for the day which did have snow. But I don't know which one it was, or where it was, except that it can't have been very far away, because they were only away for the day.

They didn't have a ski bus when we were there either - we had to walk on icy pavements or in the road - I particularly remember this because I fell carrying my daughter's skis and hurt my elbow, but luckily did no further damage to my broken shoulder.
