Tony!!!! Such stereotypism!

The German Top 40 is not a huge deal different to the British one, granted there are a few German language tunes, but its not 40 schlager hits with blonde bavarian women holding liters for beer with thier boobs popping out all over the place.

Unfortunately.

) I think you know me well enough to know I post tongue in cheek a lot of the time.
I have to say that when I spent time in Germany in my teens on exchanges and school trips (part of my O and A level courses), the charts were half English songs (and all the bad stuff in particular) and the rest of it was Nena singing about some stupid red balloons, Peter Schilling doing a modern day Major Tom, a number of old bands in lederhosen bobbing up and down whilst making innuendo type sounds on their trombones (you know EXACTLY what I mean) and lots of people from around Germany singing in their own dialect (particularly Koelsch for some reason).

Nowadays, there seems to be a lot of Polish songs about Lucas Podolski and how he is not really a German, a few blokes who look like the Mario Brothers in chefs hats with Turkish writing on their backs, and lots of black red and gold nationalistic flag waving. As well as the usual blonde birds with their boobs out swaying along to some trashy raved up ooom pah song. And The Dead Kennedys.

Tony_H wrote:Yes, you missed the point in true American style.

Apres ski in Europe, in bars on and off the slopes, is accompanied by cheesy rubbish europop songs that all the Germans/Austrians actually think are good, and belt them out at the top of their voices whilst performing some kind of ooom pah swaying dance with gallons of beer in their hands.

Really? Sounds fun or at least fun to watch. You never get anything like that in the States, unless some people are REALLY drunk and by that point they are being asked to leave. The only times I see something like that are Hobbits in Lord of the Rings Movies.

I don't think I could have been expected to guess that you guys meant listening to cheesy music that you will be listening to in bars after skiing during the ski season.

For the record, I wish Americans were more open to that kind of merriment, around here you probably just have people annoyed by the noise and telling them how "gay" they look :(

If there is no skiing in Heaven, I am staying here....

Ahhhh....brings back the memories!! You can't beat a bit of austrian apres ski with their oompa music, and bizarre dance routines.

Does anyone else remember some Austrian song about Joanna????

I gotta say, that looks awesome. I understand now :)

As happy as I am about getting back into skiing, I am sad I'll probably never get to experience anything like that, not in the States anyway.
