If you are always going to have a car I would look at St Gervais, Megeve.
Quicker to get to as no mountain passes to sit in procession on and some great little resorts within 15 - 30 min drive. Apart from St Gervais / Megeve its self which is right on the door step. You should find accomadation far cheaper than Morzine etc. |

I suppose the gloves, poles and guilty secrets could be down to the Brits though.

Funny thing is im betting this is one unsociable activity that cant be solely blamed on the Brits abroad for a change. Im pretty certain that British skiers smoke less than our European counterparts these days.

I often fly to Geneva when going to Avoriaz.
Its the closest resort I believe and a great location to explore the PDS. You can get a taxi for about £50 return per person scheduled or get your own if there are a few of you. and i believe there are regular buses. Other options are check out snowcoach they have a Hotel at La Fayet and can arrange transfers the train station is also 200 meters from the Hotel and i imagine would have a direct link from Geneva. If you have a hire car its a fantastic base for exploring some of the the best skiing around. |

I think thats your problem right there. Avoid the ESF at all costs even a confident skiier is very rarely lucky enough to get any decent input unless your lucky enough t get a British Instructor but within the ESF they are as rare as rocking horse poo.
A private lesson with the ESF is not gaurenteed to be any better unfortunatly. Which resort are you going to? Many of the bigger French resorts now have British companies that use British,Australian and NZ instructors. |

They seem to have a constant sale on just like MFI.
Lets hope they have the same fate. Actually Tony your right i have taken a good hard look at myself and have concluded that reading your responses to both of the Ryan Air Posts causes me more stress than anything else in my life. :) |

Thats a good point by Dave, Val is well worth a look especially over on the Glacier if its a nice day.
However unless the conditions are tip top then i would not advise skiing down into val from tignes get the Gondolla as their is no plesant way of getting down. |

I generally ski the last week of the season in Tignes and althouh i dont pay a huge amount of attention to the grading for the most part its well graded.
