 Sadly Chemmy had ruled herself out of competetive skiing totally this year back at the start of the season.

Whilst this competition may have it's risks, if she manages to stay in it for a while, it should do wonders to help with her fitness and leg strength. I wish her well, and may even watch a bit of it myself for a change.

Sorry to tell you this, but according to the website for the app, the 9900 is not on the list of compatible devices. They may not have updated the site though )

I suggest you email the support department for the app. Info is on the following page..

Am i the only one who comes back from a ski holiday weighing more than before i went?

Thank god for that, I thought I was the only one

Seems to be a more recent trend though. I put it down to a combination of getting older and skiing better, so I don't burn up as many of the calories I now tend to intake in longer sessions at the bar
Who here feels rough?

:hunf: :(

I am currently hunting through my flat, looking for the vulture which is obviously in here somewhere. The reason I know it's in here? Cause it crapped in my mouth sometime last night after I managed to fall into bed

Sheesh, and what is it in the components of beer, vodka, malibu, pimms, jagermeister and tequila which manage to give you such a blinding headache the following day? Perhaps it was the chocolate covered strawberries from Iceland which did it. I remember reading that chocolate could be the cause of migraines. :(
Driving from Milan Linate to La Thuile

Hi Jaffamj. welcome to the forum :-)

OK, I have not actually driven the entire route you requested, but I have driven home from Livigno via the Mont Blanc tunnel, which covers probably about 95% of what you will need to do.

From Milan you need to get on the A4 (motorway) which runs across the top of Italy and simply stay on that till you get to the A5, which will be signposted to the Mont Blanc tunnel. La Thuile is just a few km short of the tunnel and will be sign posted.

It is pretty much motorway all the way and should take about 3 hours subject to traffic and weather. If it is during the day and the weather is good, you will have a wonderful view of the Alps to your right as you drive along the bottom of them.

Here is a short clip I did on my way back, it is just after turning on to the A5  ..

With regards to tyres/chains if possible I would go with both. Winter tyres certainly are a massive aid to driving in the conditions you are likely to find, but in extreme cases, they will still need to have chains fitted to get you through some stuff. However, if it came to one over the other, I would personally go with the tyres. Assuming you will be hiring, it may depend on what they can give you, but I am pretty sure you need at least one of them for driving in the Valle d'Aosta between Mid October and Mid April.

:D

Like the topic says, Happy New Year to everyone on J2Ski.

I hope everyone travelling today (either direction) arrives safe and well, and for those of you yet to get on the snow, may it be one of the best years you have ever had

Best wishes all.
