I have to ask, did this weather suddenly just close in on you, or we're you already out in it and Chose to ski?
If your caught out in it then fair enough, not much you can do other than get down as quickly and safely as possible. Or try dig yourself in and let the storm pass enough until visibility becomes clearer. Maybe you should of been more prepared? I'm sure you will be in future.... |

Ian I didn't think of that. That is very crafty isn't it, there should be a rule that it has to be a certain % and a mixture of all lifts open not just drag lifts that run around the resort.... Luckily I've never been in resort when it's had to all shut down. Ali maybe a day in the pub could be on the cards then eh? |

Scary is the word. It sounds like total carnage is hitting the alps tonight... I would expect though that most resorts are built to cater for such events, avalanche barriers etc to stop key parts being hit. Also the pisteurs will be on full scale to clear any know avalanche prone areas by moving snow and also blasting. Kees did say on today's pics posted that it was too dangerous to venture outside and the pics look pretty heavy going.
Are there any j2skiers currently in resort that can give us more of a heads up of what's happening? |

From Kees Wolthoorns facebook page just now....
! ! ! Google translation to English.... Avalanche on the road to Val Thorens with 2 cars buried, the Les Menuires cut off from the world at the level of Praranger, road cut from Albertville to Moutiers, Telepreyerand, lifts Brelin and shuttles inter-neighborhoods at the judgment, people amount to Val Thorens, stuck in Les Menuires, and who will sleep at the Sports Center that night, electricity which dance to the rhythm of the wind gusts, absolute order not to leave his residence: this is the apocalypse to Les Menuires! ! ! ! Hope anyone who was caught up in this is ok.... |

Well done for holding your own and waiting.... In the end it's paid off. I'd love to visit ADH myself. Haven't been there yet but will do at some point in the coming yrs as a family....
Chambery well I like it, it's very small as pictured above. It can give the feeling of sardines in a tin at times if the flights are delayed etc... I remember 2 yrs ago my partner and i arrived at Leeds Bradford to delays due to the runway being closed because of snow, we left with after a 2 hour delay to arrive at Chambery which had, had delays as well it was manic... An hour after leaving Chambery both Leeds and Chambery had shut again due to the weather..... How on earth we ever managed to fly on this day is beyond me, quite honestly felt the luckiest man alive that day.... It's great for a shorter transfer to ADH, 3 valleys etc all within 2 hours. I drove to the 3 valleys and didnt find it too dificult. Took us about 1 and a half hours. Have a brilliant time and I'll look fwd to the full review for 2012 on your return? |

Well I've never been a fan of watching any type of home made film as I get pretty bad motion sickness after about 3 mins and I'm surprised how easy that is to watch. I'm converted. Maybe it's because it's on the pole I don't know but it certainly helps...
Great vid, well done |

I couldn't agree more, but it's not all video. The Vimeo clip has no problem playing. And I can usually watch YouTube with no problems.... I read that flash is being fazed out anyway and replaced with html5 that iOS works superbly on.... Here's to the future... |
