Zermatt will be honoured to be aligned with such a website and I'm sure with a little sales from Admin we could negotiate a reasonably affordable few day drinking, I mean sliding.

Tino, I see the outline of a plan, and some J2skiers in key positions 8)

PS....You risk tarnishing your new "serious shredder" image if you focus on the booze )

So, do we go for hotel, apartment, or catered chalet via TO?

An apartment would give some flexibility, for folks who can't be there for a whole week, as would a hotel.

I have a serious image? That's a first ;)

I was thinking some business terms that Admin might help us with and benifit from. The bigger the business the more attractive it may be for them. In which case I would suggest a hotel with affilates. You could go the other direction to a private chalet with much the same effect. No TO to be involved, why use a middleman?

I am located in Germany but virtually on the French border. CH has superior transport links than Austria. Karlsruhe to Zermatt is faster by train than car, whereas Tux for example is 3 hours longer. Since I am holding a beer driving is not an option :)

thanks for the suggestion tho, and cheers for the link Bandit, I'll take a look once I'm off roaming charges ;)

May look into that Dave, the reason I do Switzerland for short trips is access to resort. Much faster than early or late season Austria. Don't mind the journey when doing a week. Saying that I am really looking forward to the Ski Circus in December. I have heard great things in terms of riding and nightlife.

Tino, jumping slightly, but not wholly, aside, have you been in Nordkette? Seems to me if you can get easily into town, you have fast access up the hill. Probably not suitable for end November, (but might be), but does solve the other half of the issue, ie getting up to the top quickly.

Dave, no idea where it is even? Enlighten me :). Could be another option!

Talking Zermatt, today wasn't much fun up top. Only the KM cable car running, no drags due to -15C and 60kph winds turning the glacier surface to sheet ice. Run to Trockener Steg was open but biting ice winds on the flat section reduced it to a calf busting slog. Blue sky day and I had lunch in Furri about 2.30 when I gave up and it was georgeous, t-shirt weather. It seems that at glacier height the wind can really play a part early season and with queues of 500-600 for the only lift going made for a less than perfect day. Had a sauna and a swim this afternoon and on top of my very tasty Rosti, made up for it.

Hintertux will probably give you the greatest amount of piste for your money at that time, The valley has had good snow the last weeks too. No ski-in-out likely and quite a limited nightlife. Cervinia opens proper next weekend so that might be an option with Zermatt to play around in.

I bought cheapo thermals t shirts and bottoms in Primark, £2.50 each bargain.
Trouble is, I get too hot in them.

I have never worn thermals, I just don't feel the cold

Wicko me auld mucka, we have a frighteningly similar outlook on this mountain ting, be it the cold or sock habits. Don't tell me that breakfast is all about as much orange juice and coffee you can consume, whilst forcing a lite bite down the hatch. Queues are a good oppportunity to reflect on the stupidity of humanity, and anything that involves not going downhill fast is a waste of life?

Been on the dancing juice Tino?

I've found a very nice chalet, think it will accommodate all of us.

Well maybe a couple of scoops on the way here :) rude not to really.

Now about this chalet, does it come with swim up cocktail bar and bunny girls?
