Thank you for that scientific explanation. The problem is not many of the more expensive products on the market, back up their marketing with the science. Could that be because they are not really superior, but hang on a 'name'.

If you applied that to everything you bought you would end up with some amount of rubbish. Sure it is the law of diminishing returns + some brands may not be worth the cash but plenty sure are.

Ian, me too

Many brands are synonymous with quality and I like to buy in to that. Often the customer service and warranty experiences say a lot about the difference in companies. Unfortunately Oakley don't give refunds for lost glasses (2 pairs :().

they do seem expensive, I use bollé, cebe and alpina in harsher conditions than skiers would experience and they're fine without the price tag

They're not cheap either.

I can't see that they do anything more than a decent pair of polarised for £10 -£15 would do. People think they need the brand name to be credible - sad.

Have you tried both?

People just like having brands that represent style and quality, not everyone thinks they 'need' the brand name.

Even at 'full price' they aren't expensive.

Everything is still on sale on their website.
Missing summer holidays

No way

I generally don't wear anything ski related on the plane, if anything the jacket. Definitely comfier things to travel in.

I've seen people wearing ski trousers (+boots!).
