Paying for it in Austria
Started by User in Ski Chatter, 11 Replies
:Dhi,i do not think this is a problem confined to just one place either (only certain plastic being accepted),i recently came back from BSM and went to fill up with fuel and when i went to pay the teller in the station they said my card would not be any good(fortunately i had some cash).
Upon returning to the UK i rang mbna and told them the problem and was told that thier credit cards can be used for all other purchases but they are not compatible with the electronic payment device in certain french petrol stations? :D
:Dhi,not entirely sure but i have just looked on a piste map an i think you cn ski all the way down from the Roche De Mio at 2700m down to Montchavin at 1250m and would say that taking into account it is not a straight line schuss looks to be around 4km ,and is made up of blues and reds with a black option half way down. :D,on the les arcs side the longest run down is from the top of the Aiguille Rouge all the way down to Le Pre which is about 7km and is Black at the top and red from the midle part down with a slightly tricky part half way as well but is red,(can be skied ok by a confidant intermediate). :D

:D,hi have you looked at www.optimumski.com "Chalet Tarentaise" or Ski Miquel, as both offer excellent accommadation, have friends who know the owner Martin at Chalet Tarentaise, and have used Ski Miquel several times myself and would reccommend them both. best of luck with your search and a safe enjoyable season :D
:D hi fellow skiers and boarders, just got back from Bourg-Saint-Maurice today and while i was sitting having a drink at a friends place up the road in Villaroger yesterday afternoon the mist and clouds parted, after a few days of blocking the views around Les Arcs and the surrounding areas to reveal lots of fresh snow up the mountains and more is expected this week and the end of next,so it looks like there will be a very good snowbase for the comming season...yippeee :D

:D hi,hope you are well and looking forward to another season on the slippy stuff,i think last year was bit of a blip in the weather as i dont prescribe to all this global warming rubbish.
The weather in he alps and world in general seems to go round in cycles, certain counrties get better snow than others but it all comes round to each eventually,in fact the last truly bad start to the season i ca remember was about ten years ago,i went to St.Anton one january (stayed in the small hamlet of Pettnaeu (not to sure of the spelling now) and it was blazing hot with green grass everywhere,up in St.Anton the snow was not very good, after acouple of days the teemperature dropped suddenly and overnight we had about a metre of snow.
If supposed global warmng means great snow at the start of the season..lets all install coal burning fires.
