Thanks Alistair, I do get that impression. Great if skiing is one of several activities you want to do whilst there (obviously including Santa  !) but not necessarily for skiing alone. Hmmm... can I make the compromise? There's a cracking deal on a little catered chalet with lovely sounding meals, husky rides, skidooing, the northern lights... hmmm. Fair old walk to the ski bus though :? It's probably all academic anyway. MrEvs would promptly poke my eyes out if I proposed diluting his skiing opportunities

I haven't done much yoga, but am trying desperately to get fitter for this years skiing. My legs just couldn't stand up to it by the end of the day last year as I've been pretty inactive sports wise for years now. Been doing a bit of everything to keep variety - running, cycling, rowing and various other small bits and pieces. I need to lose a lot of weight too though, hence the aerobic theme. God I hope it works!

Just been going through a brochure to see what's about. Lapland ski hols seem cheap in comparison to other places with most being in the low £400's. Is this because it's not considered a 'proper' ski country? I noticed that the actual skiing is limited compared to many other countries/resorts. Perhaps it's more of an all round snow experience country rather than being strongly geared towards skiing? It doesn't have a category on here under Ski Resorts which maybe says a lot.
Any thoughts? |

Yup, what Getjim and Snowb4ndit said.
I just bought a helmet. I got a Salomon icon custom air. Sorry - I haven't tested it yet, but the vent size compares well with others, and they open/close to give you the choice you're looking for. Oh, it's also very light, much lighter than it looks. I almost double checked the box to make sure they hadn't sneakily removed it while I wasn't looking! |

How about a bottle or two of that Nikwax (other makes are probably available) re-waterproofing stuff for washing your salopettes and jacket with? If you're skiing loads my guess is you'll need to re-do them a few times while you're out there and it's cheaper than buying new gear.

This is excellent news Bandit. It will be interesting to see what the experts can come up with by way of clarification. Of course that's assuming that they're not a bunch of 'Holiday Harrys' and are skilled enough to even be considering this issue? (Sorry I couldn't resist - smacked wrists for me - and if anyone from Henry's is reading - it is a joke, honest!)

Yes I have a feeling that somewhere much further along my ski learning curve I may come to regret it! At the moment I'm in blissful ignorance for the most part
