:DHi,
I suppose it depends on how much you feel the cold?,i have worn the same kit for most of my skiing life, a pair of Fusalp Salopettes which are fleece lined and a Berghaus Fleece half zip top witha Gore-Tex lining and only wer a thin t-shirt or thin long sleeved top underneath, and this allows me to be dry and comfortable in all weathers. With regards to thermals i think the main problem with them is the sweat thing so you begin to get an uncofortable rash :(. A while back i posted a thread about clothing you can now purchase made from Bamboo and that you can get thermals made from the same stuff, and apparently it is much, much better than conventional materials for keeping you comfortable and dry. Have a butchers at the site http://www.bambooclothing.co.uk/ All the best :D jon |

:DHi all..
There has been some crazy weather this year, but for me i startd to get the "feeling" about a week and a half ago whle in Bourg-Saint-Maurice,sitting on my veranda one evening after a shower and all of a sudden was the unmistakable smell of crisp mountain air with the smell of someones log fire burning...magic. And in the morning fresh snow on the top peaks in the area...not long now i thought... :D |

Firstly...my thoughts go out to the families of the climbers who lost their lives...
On the Global Warming/Climate Change debate..i have just returned from Bourg-Saint-Maurice where the glaciers are looking better than they have for years in the area, and during the past week the highest peaks of the region have all had fresh snow. Global Warming....someone ,somewhere is making a lot of money preaching very biased statistics without giving te full facts and figures. JonG |

:DHi All,
A chap i work with has put me onto this company who sell clothing made from Bamboo Fibres and says that the socks he purchased keep his feet dry even in the hottest weather and are very comfortable to wear. I must confess that i have not made a purchase as yet but intend to do so as they also sell underwear and layers to help with wicking away moisture from next to the skin to help keep you dry ,and that the clothing has a natural built in anti-bacterial qualty which means an end to smelly used socks etc,it seems the outdoor sports scene will be a good market wth the right advertising. I was wondering if anyone else had heard of this or has purchased anything of the same, seems they may give the man made fibre micro layers a run for their money. JonG. |
