Germknödels always look better when sold in pairs....
However, there can never be an index for my friends cheesecake, (he of the Kropfraderalm. His frau is in the habit of gently nudging a few drops of Strohrum into the mix. Great index, though. I am pretty sure I can single handedly write the Euro/austrian index for Goulash soup. Why, I only have to sniff at my sallopettes.... |

Not even with your defensive, convoluted logic, could you get away with suggesting that the clock starts ticking when the skier is still wearing nappies. The informed question would be "when did you friends start teaching?" You should NEVER try to run backwards, when wearing ski boots. You will fall, look stupid, and everyone will laugh..... |

This is VERY old stuff, Brucie! |

I knew this was wrong, because I have an Austrian friend who is Staatliche approved at the age of 30. However, to double check, I wrote to another Austrian friend, and received a remarkably anglo-saxon response. "20 years is b****cks but you do have to teach between Anwaerter and Landeslehrer Anwaerter to Staatlicher takes about 5 years if you pass all the exams ..usually one season teaching between each level. You also now have to do snowboard exams in order to obtain Staatlicher." I venture that this is a pretty good command of English for an Austrian. (It was me that converted the word with some*****!) |

Really? Whilst this is not a comparative forum, I respectfully suggest that there are individuals who can both outski, and outboard, most people on this site. I, for one, have a good knowledge of several such individuals. Some individuals race, in Europe and America, both skiing and boarding to a very high standard. I have put one of your claims back to some friends in Austria. It remains to be seen, who makes things up as they go along. Idkwia, I have no doubt, from what you say, that you are an extremely high standard of skier. Much better than most of us, You have some good knowledge, albeit hindered perhaps, by some limited views. You will be the first to know, when I get my responses from my Austrian friends. Ski well. |

I think that you might find, idkwia, that our long time friend was putting two links together, and very, very gently mocking you. All done, in the best possible taste..... |

Nope, well the premise is wrong anyway.
In order to achieve the Statchliche award, an instructor must pass in both skiing and boarding. Those who are a little long in the tooth, often fall, (sic), at the boarding hurdle..... |

The insurance restrictions rarely directly mention the word "helmet". The wording is generally applied across a range of sports, and may be of the nature ~ "must wear protection appropriate to the sport"
In the event of a claim relating to leg or arm injuries, then the non-wearing of a helmet may be difficult to argue as a reason for not agreeing a claim. Not so, in the case of a head injury. Also, head injury mountain recovery is 100% helicopter. Medical and repatriation costs are, in their very nature, high. I guess, most head injuries might cost in excess of £20k minimum, several times greater than a leg injury. |
