Bandit, I have to laugh at "dork" lol. A word we often use.
Mind, my hubby had the wrong skis, as someone had left theirs with all our four's skis, and they were the exact same ones. But luckily it was sorted at the ski office, after they didn't feel right. They knew who's skis they were and he had my hubby's, so they swapped back. In future we will make a note of numbers. I doubt anyone'd knick em, as they can't be slipped in your case lol

Mekka wrote:I pay extra for my account and get 'lots of benefits'. They assure me this is saving me tons of money. I haven't looked closely enough to figure out the saving vs cost. It covers me for phone, iPod, travel, roadside assistance. All the usual. I've yet to make a claim on any of it. It sure is handy though having it all done by them.

I check the cover every time a point gets raised on here. Eg the alcohol thing last season. Up to now it's not been lacking.

I think my bank offered me that but it worked out dearer. Don't use a mobile or an ipod and we only do 2.5k miles in our family car so dont see the need for breakdown insurance and my travel insurance is dirt cheap anyway. The bank's house insurance is extortionate. Think mine quoted me about £300 for both and I get it online for £150 for contents and buildings, AND about £45 cashback from quidco! I avoid bank stuff like the plague.

Glad to hear your hubby fully recovered. :) It is always a worry while away.

bandit wrote:Just looked up the Insurefor policy on their website. For off piste skiing they state "Off piste skiing or snow-boarding
(within local ski patrol guidelines)"

I wonder what that actually means :?:

I haven't taken much notice of that tbh cos I never ski off piste and nor do my family. I think they're a good company though. very cheap and eveything I need included. Plus don't forget to go through quidco to make extra cash!!
If you want to check that with them, give them a ring. They even have a freefone number! 0800 091 2830 I emailed them to ask if we were covered if for instance one of the kids had to stay in the country, for me to stay with them. I said I wasnt ringing an 0871 number and they gave me that one!!

Ooh no ta! Own skis = initial outlay/expense, carriage on plane, having to get them there, then you'd need them serviced regularly!

Mekka, do you get free insurance with your bank account? If so, which bank is that? Unless you're paying any charges on it, as I wouldntwant that!
May open a separate account. I am sure tho, if you went in and paid a bit more thay'd amend the excess.
My insurance covers all that Tony H, and all for £12.50 each a year, covering us for unlimited european holidays and 16 days skiing. I am very happy with mine, I challenge anyone to find cheaper!

fair enough. You can alter the excess on yr policy tho for a few quid to remove it.

but you may as well get the whole insurance package mekka. You have to be insured against unjury anyway! Why then pay extra at the hire office!
Lotta insurefor do 16 days skiing a year. I spose 18 would be better as it'd cover 3 weeksworth. That said, if you didnt claim on yr first trip, how would they know you'd already been??????

Wow! Have never been offered insurance from the shop! Wouldnt take it anyway, would prob cost more than we pay for the year individually.
btw the company I use is insurefor.com, and if you go via quidco you get a hefty cashback too. You can change the excesses to suit yourself Worth a look everyone, because I can't find cheaper anywhere! If you want the quidco details give me a yell.
