Trencher has a good point. Bad news stories always get more press than good news stories.

You don't often see the headline "500 people went skiing today and all survived without injury, hooray!" :D

Not very sensational is it.

Spot on.

It's an individual choice, full stop. There are many and varied arguments for and against all of which (okay...most of which) are valid but should all be viewed from different perspectives and the perspective of the poster.

This is a discussion that will never go away due to the safety argument but the fact remains that it is down to individual preference - and that cannot be argued (can it?).

I'm a Lidder when abroad but at Hemel Snow Centre tomorrow I'll be sans lid...work that out!

Gloves/Lining Gloves

Okay okay....I'll go to the Doctors!

Doesn't negate the fact I want to find some warm gloves as whetever the inherent issue is I doubt I can fix it in 18 Sleeps as that's when I'm off to Obergurgl!

I think it may be a case of MTFU and some slightly thicker liners, the silk ones were fine last year in January so hopefully I'll get by this year too unless it's seriously cold.

The pain I mentioned during other activities was MTB in -3 with wet hands (fell off) and Road Cycling in -6 with bog standard long fingered cycling gloves all in the UK in the last few weeks.

Thanks, once again, for all the advice.

Hi - anyone got any suggestions.

I currently have a pair of high end Solomon gloves (approx £80 in the early noughties), I've used them for four weeks since then so they're still in decent shape.

My issue is that I get very very cold hands when I'm sat still (lifts especially), all other parts are just fine including toes, ears etc.....just my hands! Not limited to skiing, when MTB in Winter or Road Cycling I get the same issue - I can't feel my fingers!

Before anyone starts on circulation etc....it's fine (well it's not but I am healthy with no actual circulation issues)just one of those things.

So...I have tried Silk Liners which helped a bit, next step may be some Merino Wool ones from Icebreaker but they're a bit thicker so getting to the point where I still can't move my fingers due to bulky gloves.

Does anyone have other suggestions or recommended liners apart from a healthy supply of disposable hand warmers?

Thanks
