Thanks for the tip - think I might just stop looking at the forecasts! What the heck, there's snow, I'll have skis on, happy days - c'est la vie! |

PS - think DaveMac's in Obergurgle the same week.....

Yep - off to Obergurgle on Friday!! Nice dusting of snow (about 20cm) this week to freshen things up for us and then sunny weekend staying below zero......is there anyway I can fix today's forecast so it doesn't change! 4 sleeps - whoop whoop |

To be honest not overly worried - just looking forward to a break.
If the conditions can 'weather' the warm temps at the end of this week we'll be just fine! |

To be honest those are my thoughts exactly, can't do anything about it so suck up potentially less than ideal conditions and crack on!
Reports from the resort seem to indicate the snow's holding up okay but I'll know first hand in 11 sleeps eh! |

Hi All,
Can anyone recommend a decent website (that I don't have to pay for!) that gives long range forecasts (anything over a week). I know that these will have varying levels of accuracy but am off on the 9th March and just want to see what the general trend is in Austria (Obergurgl area) as we get nearer the date. If someone can find one that shows temps dropping a few degrees and about 20cm snow that would be great  Cheers N |

Spent the evening at Hemel Snow Centre last night (which incidentally was virtually empty and in great condition compared to previous trips). Properly excited now that I've had a few runs......still 15 sleeps though.....it's torture..... :D

Obergurgl is reporting max +4 (via the J2Ski Forecast page) but normal business resumes over the weekend back into the -2's a lower. Just 2 kmore weeks - if it Ices up I stand a fairly good chance of never being allowed skiing again. My Wife has been lucky enough to ski all over the World enjoying perfect conditins since she was walking but since I joined the fray 3 years ago we've had awful conditions - La Plagne in 2009 (or was it 2008) was pretty much sheet ice and Les Gets last year was just plain crap due to lack of snow.
I'm hoping that snowsure Obergurgl comes up trumps! I'm not actually panicking at all please note as most sites are saying that itis the best conditions for years.....hopefully it will take more than 2 weeks for that to be ruined....just more of the same please....seems to be getting about 10cm/week to keep it topped up. |
