I agree with GazC re Folgarida. There are two beginner slopes which are separate from the main pistes, so you can learn to ski without the fear of being mown down by other skiers. A very gentle slope then takes you back to the gondola or to the long blue back to the village. There are several friendly bars/cafes where the 'minder' can keep an eye on the beginners. For the rest of you, the skiing in Marilleva or Madonna is superb.

Also in Italy, take a look at the Madonna/Folgarida/Marilleva ski area which should suit you.

Lech is one of my favourite ski areas and we went there (for our 5th visit) in January this year. My favourite run is Red 35 (off the Rotschrofen two-man chair) taking a left onto Red Itinerary 64 to the bottom of the Weibermahd. This is the new lift which is partly chairs and partly gondolas, ready for the new link to Warth.
Worth a visit to the Schrofli Alm in Zurs for lunch and Don Enzo Pizzeria is good in Lech, opposite the Oberlech cable car. |

It may reflect the resorts we choose to go to, but I think the standard of boarding is really good generally - however, I still don't get on a chairlift with a boarder unless it is my son!!

"Hopes that work will start on the £300m SnOasis project next month have been described as 'laughable' by campaigners against the scheme" - according to my EADT today. "But Godfrey Spanner, manager for the SnOasis project said he was confident that once a business plan on the new railway station on the site in Great Blakenham, near Ipswich, is completed, work can start and will be finished by 2016. Mr. Spanner who was declared bankrupt in March last year and forced to resign as a company director, said.....We are behind schedule. I'm desperate to start digging by the spring and hoping it will be finished by 2016. I'm doing nothing else."
(Perhaps if he's so keen to do some digging, he could come and do my garden instead!) |

How good are you with a needle and thread? My local sewing shop sells a variety of widths of black elastic plus little silvery 'D' shapes with matching double hook silvery 'thing' for the other end of your home made belt.
