2014 ideas

So I'm planning some ideas for next season, doing my usual research on resorts, accommodation, etc

I've been compiling a short list and have come up with one or two places that have surprised myself but came about after reading reviews.

I've even produced a short list of hotels based on value, location, and online reviews posted.

So, I'd be interested in people's feedback on places they've skied on this list, and particularly on the property mentioned if anyone's stayed there too;

Verbier- chalet hotel Montpelier or chalet hameau (I skied verbier 5 years ago and want to go back)

Arabba - chalet matea/elena

Selva - chalet brigitte or chalet igloo

Courchevel 1650 - chalet cascades (surprised myself here with France, 3 valleys and courchevel in particular but reviews tell me otherwise)

Schladming - hotel zum kaiserweg

Bad gastein - chalet hotel tannenburg or hotel Mozart

Cervinia - chalet hotel des guides


I've swatted up on ski areas and all are exactly the kind of places we like, albeit all somewhat different to each other.

Ive looked at C1650 many times, that Cascades looks like a great location.

For Jan next year it is ADH for me again.....11th Jan, the quiet week.

After Champoluc you might find Cervinia a bit bland.

I doubt that very much.
Champoluc was scenic and beautiful, but cervinia offers different options. Both totally different and therefore difficult to compare.
But I understand what you're saying.

Another option was Sölden, chalet hotel Hermann. But I've read a lot about how the hotel isn't anything like ski in ski out as they advertise, and that changes things as Sölden is a reasonably limited area for me for a week at 150km, especially when it's bland scenery above the tree lines.

Scenery is always a bonus, but its not the reason we choose places to ski.
Monterosa was just somewhere totally different with what we had heard ie empty pistes and interesting opportunities away from the pistes.

Anyway, champoluc is history, on to 2014........

Chalet Brigitte - Selva...stayed there about 10 years ago when it was ski esprit, so full of kids, was a long hike to the lifts and the bus stop wasnt that close either. Bus was always bursting at the seams.
