Obergurgl is among the most expensive of all Austrian resorts - the prices there for everything were so much higher than at Solden last March. (Part of the reason I didn't care much for the place!)
Overall, though, Austria is still much cheaper than France or Swisserland. I'm hiring skis, boots and helmet for my novice partner in March for 70€ for six days. Exceptional value! |

Thank you. Fulpmes is definitely on my list of possibilities, but not likely to base ourselves in Innsbruck itself, as we prefer a village.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience but my departure date to Reith im Alpbachtal is March 6, not 7! I was a little confused, I fear!

Good choice on refusing the Crystal rep's trip to Pila! Nothing wrong with Pila for a day trip, but was completely underwhelmed by the rep's organisation and the coach back, which took three hours to do what should have been a half-hour trip!
Champoluc sounds just up my street, though! |

Goggles when skiing in a helmet, sunglasses (from Bloc) when skiing in a hat or bareheaded. The old Blocs are always in my pocket for lunchtime and drinks stops!

Would you be kind and add my destination on March 7 - Reith im Alpbachtal. Thank you.

The only time I've had a half-decent Turin Airport experience was when catching the 6am Thos Cook flight from Bristol; first one to land and return - so queues and scrums had yet to build up. But got to know the scenic car park very well as the transfer bus waited for everyone from several flights to battle their way through. My tip: avoid Turin on a Sunday.

I now have flights to Innsbruck for a week from March 6(the return flight cost just £15 with a few air miles!) but no resort booked yet.
I'm tempted by the Alpbachtal now there are lift links between Alpbach and Auffach. But I'm a touch worried about the snow quality at that time of the season so also looking at Pitztal or Stubaital. Can anyone offer any advice/tips etc on these two areas? Many thanks. |
