Morzine at 1/2 term?
Started by User in France, 18 Replies
Tony H,
Eldest boy is in 5th year ( next year) & dont want to compromise his exam chances in any way + school wont give permission either.
Was looking for close'ish resort to drive from Calais as package trips are way to expensive on the 1/2 term week.
Cheers

Thanks for the replys all;
AllyG ; I think you are correct regards DiY & off the beaten track resorts; dont mind DIY myself, last easter we did just that to Val Cenis . Worked out really well but the drive was a little longer than hoped so was thinking Morzine etc would make it that 2 or 3 hours closer ( so more bearable).
Will look at your suggested area as it does sound it may be what we wnat. Not bothered as to staying in France just that isn't it the quickest to drive to? ( not dead set on driving just this seems to be the cheaper way in school hols)
Would also prefer catered/half board as its a bit of a bind having to sort eating arrangements out after a hard day on the slopes!
But, as I have to work within a budget I will have to compromise to 'get' a ski holiday in on 1/2 term. Cant afford the £900 odd per head x4 for my family; I try to keep the week below £3k for everything ( & havent had a problem in the past......although this 1/2 term is looking dearer than previous!).
Thanks again everyone & anymore info much appriciated.
Cheers

Hi AllyG

Missed the deal myself as someone beat me to it; was looking at accommodation with a company called 'Rudechalets' ; they get an amazing number of positive reviews on trip advisor but suspect a high percentage of these may not be genuine ! Still, research suggests they do seem to be a forward thinking company with a good reputation; & did seem good value on the Feb 1/2 term at £600/ head catered ( own travel).
However, do not fancy very busy slopes as wife is only a blue/green run skier & would not venture to reds. Will have another think or where to go............any suggestions for a 'quiet' 1/2 term week? ( if there is such a thing)
Thanks

Hi everyone,
Can anyone advise what the slopes are like ( relating to amount of people) in Morzine at 1/2 term?
Bit stuck with kids not being allowed from school etc & have found a decent deal in this resort but a bit worried it will be chaos at this time of year
Any advise appreciated
Thanks in advance

To be fair, was only paying around 3 - 3 1/2 euro/500ml in Jan this year so yeah; Mickys is a rip off
With all the experience you people have had over they years what would you 'think' the snow in the French alps ( Maurienne Valley) will be like come 1st or 2nd week of April?
I know this is more guess work than anything else but am wondering as I have the chance to get away & not sure whether to risk booking it now , or wait ( & possibly miss out)& see how things develop.
All opinions welcome
Thanks in advance
