Catriona;
if this is your 1st time I personnaly would go with a TO , there is quite a lot to get sorted initially such as passes, kit hire, blah blah blah that its nice to have it all done by someone else ; also , dependant on deals available it can be cheaper as well. Also, would recommend at least 1/2 board accomodation.......last thing you need after a day on the slopes is to worry about sorting evening dinner out. If you are going to DiY it & hire a car , make sure you have winter tyres & chains as you may need these as you get higher. Before you go would also recommend you take some lessons at a slope in the UK, it gives you the basics & will get you up on to the mountain quicker on holiday. JennyR; Val cenis is brilliant , especially for beginners. Your correct on that green run, it goes for ages & does make the thighs burn if you are still on snowplough level. Who are you booking with as £800 sounds cheap......must be peak retreats or snow trex. I went there with 'Snowcoach' who were very good ( excellent food, loads of it & great company......staff good as well). Limited apres but very very good value . May be going back there myself this season. Any q's, please ask |

Footbeds & boots are pretty new...........1st time in resort ( 1 week) a couple of weeks ago & probably 10 to 15 hours worth on the MK snowdome.
Was sure I wasnt going to get any grief.........boots are comfortable apart from giving me these ( rather painful) blisters, which didnt develope straight away. |

Fairly low, although I have custom footbed in them...............which did sort out the agonising footpains I get without them

Hoping someone can advise;
Couple of weeks ago skiing in Italy, first 2 or 3 days,my boots ( own) seemed fine however after this I developed a blister ( one on each foot in the 'same' place) just below & back from the inner ankle, so almost but not quite on the heel. It seemed to be caused by my skating action when moving on flat sections; also I seem to suffer from hot feet no matter how cold things get, so sweaty socks seemed to increase the problem as this allowed some ( all though very little) movement when doing this action. On returning home & reading various 'boot' threads on forums I removed the boot liners & measured the gap between my heel & the back of the boot whilst my toes were touching the front. Right foot has a gap of around 25 to 30 mm & left foot around 20 to 25 mm ( my left foot is a UK 9 & right is a UK 8 1/2. My boots are a mondo 27.5 & are very snug when first put on but suspect they may be too big now after all my research ( although god knows how I could get my foot into a smaller boot) Is there any thing I can do to alter the boot liner ( pad out at this point of rubbing etc) or am I going to have to buy a new pair of boots ? Thanks in advance |

If you have gone for the ski carriage option, does that mean you can take your boots as part of that carriage? ( will be in their own boot bag), or are they treated seperately.
Am flying with Monarch from Gatwick next Sat& havent been able to get a definate answer either way :?: Didnt want to suddenly have to rearrange my hold suitcase to get some boots in becayse they may be refused. Any advice welcome. |

The Heads have 8 holes I,m afraid......come fitted with the tyrolia SP100 retal binding...which are ultra easy & quick to adjust to various boot sizes + no tools needed ( unless you are changing din setting, when you need a flat edge). Taking them for a warm up at the MK snowdome either Fri or Sat before heading to Italy on the 17th..have got some zardoz notwax to try out...should keep things nice & slippy :D Do you use release or non-release bindings? |

I bought a pair of the heat mouldable footbeds from yoursole as I always have grief with my feet in ski ( & skating) boots; Really easy to 'mould' & very efficient customer service from 'yoursole'...they promise full 100% refund if you are not totally satisified.......even if you have 'trimmed' them up for your boots/shoes etc. Although didn't get to test their word on this as I was more than happy with mine. Definately worth the money in my case as practically made my boots comfortable ( used to be agony).................seem pretty decent quality as well. Go ahead & try them, would be supprised if you dont keep them. |
