Take em to the desk with the bags, usually they will get you to take them down to oversize.
No experience with Thompson but I have on numerous occasions got away with 2 pairs of skis and a pair of boots in the bag..
Ross, it's absolutely true, I guess I'm just lucky or a good Liar and please use simple speak as I can't find my dictionary

Thompson flights have been getting some internet attention because they have a really ludicrous ski carriage weight limit of 6kg. Do you have 1 pair of skis in your bag?
You may be asked to prove this at the airport. I really can't see what Thompsons could do, if you have 1 pair of skis in a bag and have paid for carriage for 1 pair, the ski weight is their problem.
Normally, skis are checked in after you have put your suitcase onto the conveyor, by taking them to the outsize luggage desk. The check in staff will tell you where you need to take them.

This kind of proffiteering by the airlines gets my goat.....
When you see the size of the gas of luggage taken on as hand luggage with no weight check required, it makes a complete nonsense of the weight limits for skis etc.
Jon.

Guy's I have never had my skis or boots weighed at either the checkin desk or oversized baggage :-)
