On my first ski trip a few years ago, the lifts and gond's terrified me, infact, they still do. I mentally count up the weight allowance and will not get in full gondala's. when they or any lift stops, i feel that i am going to breakdown and my heart is in my mouth.

However, i have got a bit better only because i love skiing soo much and i really cant be walking up the alpes!

I was also very fearfull being on the higher mountains due to the thought that i would fall right to the bottom. Once i became confident on ski's, this issue was very quickly sorted out.

Take her on lower pistes which have edges rather than drops. there are still plenty of reds and blacks to improve and for you all to enjoy until she feels in control enough to go higher.

Do carry on, be patient but some people need to be forced/heavily pursuaded to leave their comfort zone-but only when you are sure she is capable!

I was thinking of a late trip to Val Thoren in early April.

Can anyone give me any advice on whether that is too late for decent snow at that time?

Opinions of Meribel
Started by User in France
I have just come back from a fantastic week in La Plagne and now time to plan my March trip.

I was thinking of Meribel but i have read a lot of differring reports ("Meribel is like being in South London" and "full to the brim with the worst British so called skiiers").

These comments have somewhat put me off and I have also considered Les Contamines.

Any opinions on these resorts or other recommendations for French resorts in March?

Snowboarding lessons - bad experience

I have never boarded but took my girls (age 7 & 9 - average size)for boarding lessons to the snow dome in milton keynes.

They loved it and the instructor was great. My eldest was a natural after two hours, the younger on struggled a bit, but she will be fine after another few lessons.

Its sad that it was such a disaster for you all as it is a great family holiday and can be for the rest of your lives.

Go to an indioor centre over here and try again.

The good thing is that you have posted on here so hopefully you WILL go and try again.

Where do i start?
