That's really interesting. We all go out of our way to collect passport stamps so I'm really not surprised that is such a money spinner for resorts over there..although, to my knowledge, it is totally unheard of in Europe - we just laminate our piste maps, lol. |

I weigh the same as you and my boots have a flex of 80 which I think reading up on it is pretty standard for someone of our size. If you are worried about 'snugness' but not sure if that will compromise your need for a 'forgiving' feel why don't you get a boot with an 80/90 adjustable flex. |

The 'cheapest' way is to fly to marseille from stansted and then get the coach from there (2.5hours) for 20 euro return.
http://www.infociao.com/navettesblanches/process.php?horaires_tarifs=1&tree=39592&lng=ENU You can get ryanair flight to marseille sat to sat for around £70 so total return trip from london is less than £100 if you get the navette blanche coach. For accomodation, look at: : http://www.sara-residences.com/EN/hiver/residence.php You will not go far wrong with Risoul - it is a great resort for skiing with lots of good runs and excellent off piste. |

If you're on your feet all day, the 20mins doesn't even come into it. You'll be fitter than someone sitting at a desk all day and doing 20mins aerobic exercise a day in my opinion.
When I was a student and worked in bars, I didn't have much time for exercise but the constant rushing around meant that I was probably fitter than I am now doing a lot more exercise - it's just less sports specific. I couldn't have rode my race bike at uni like I can now but I could have tried my hand at other sports without feeling unfit if you know what I mean. I read somewhere that traffic wardens burn 2,500 calories on an 8 hour shift and they are not doing any strenuous exercise - they are just active all day every day. I hate sitting at a desk all day - although I'm not sure the job of traffic warden is calling me. |

I would have thought that should be the very bare minimum anyway. |

Thanks for that. Have you been to Niederau though? As far as I can see there is very little steep stuff??
Good skiers also enjoy exploring and there doesn't seem to be much exploring to be had in Niederau?? Risoul has no queues, is not busy etc but has 180km of piste and excellent off piste. What makes Niederau so special? I would like to know (preferably from someone who has been there) as it clearly must have something that sets it apart for everyone to rave about it. |

I've realised that everyone on this site absolutely loves Niederau. Why? With less than 70km of piste and only 18runs I just don't get why anyone except beginners and families would go there. I also hear that the 'blacks'there are more like harsh blues. This is not a post meant to put down Niederau as I have never been there, more one to ask why it is so great for good skiers?
