St Gervais - Les Contamines

I have found some very reasonable accommodation in St Gervais and cheap flights to Geneva and cheap car rental (i have to watch the pennies!!).

I was thinking of skiing in les contamines or Chamonix. does anyone know how long the drive would be to these resorts and the parking situationin either?

Thanks

SNOW DOME - Milton Keynes

Hi,

I am taking my kids and partner on their first ski trip this January. They are going to go to ski school but I wondered if it would be woth them going to the Snow Dome for a couple of lessons beforehand.

I have never been so wondered if it is as "real" as it says it is? They are a bit aprehensive so a few hours on the "snow" may give them that bit of extra confidence.

What do you think?

Go to the ICE BAR at the bottom of Penkenbahn as soon as your day skiing is done... very lively indeed.
Anybody skied the Harakiri in Mayrhofen?

There are some great reds on the Penken even, with the 3 and the 5 being particulary fast and wide. Unfortunately I ended up doing the black 4 by accident, as it was wrongly marked on an OLD map by the top of the Penken lift. It was 8.45 in the morning in April, there was no sun and it was sheet ice. As a beginner it was not the most fun I have had in my life.... maybe I'll try again in March after I have another couple of weeks under my belt.

Yeah, 3 reds (5 & 6 adn 1 i think + 2 blue) all interlink and is great fun with a really nice jump point at the end on the most central one.

I tried it and really hurt myself... started off well but one incy mistake is badly punished. If your prone to correcting mistakes, this is not the run for you.

It is a great ski area so my suggestion is try it on the last day, last run and make the most of your travel insurance and get a helecopter back !
