I think that there are several resorts available, such as Hintertux, Stubai, L2A, Tignes. I get the impression from other folks that the skiing can be rather limited. Some resorts get busy with race squad training - I know that L2A has a bit of a reputation for that. And it'll be a DIY trip, cos I am not aware of any TOs that run half term trips. Check out Easiski's snow blog for comments on L2A October skiing in years gone by.

Aye up, lurker. It may be a bit quiet on the forums until October or until someone mentions niederau or helmets.

Bedrock Barney is right. You cut the insole to the boot, I think. Non skiing insoles wouldn't work, I don't think.

Mobile site working nicely. Better than snowheads on mobile phone.

Looks like I won't get a trip in this year (kids want to go to Disney instead). What should I do to keep my hand in? Regular trips to the pontypool carpet? Infrequent days at a snowdome, with a lesson or two? Or sell the kids and go skiing?

Where ever you go mate try to avoid holidays if you can. You should be ok in jan or early feb. for example, French resorts will be busy mid feb to mid march and Austrian resorts will get busy whenever Austria has its half term break.
