Soll or Innsbruck

If you are flying into Munich, (which I do every year), you have a range of ski options. However, before you reach the Innsbruck area, you will have passed many other ski areas, including Kitzbuhel, the Wildschönau, Alpbachtal, the Zillertal.

Regarding the Schiwelt area, including Söll, if you email the tourist office with your requirements, they send this out to the whole area, and you will get hotel offers made directly to you.
We did this a few years back, and had a New Year dbb offer in Scheffau at €45/night. Now is €55/night.

I looked at this, since I hire cars in European winter every season. I gave up. I cannot find a sensible car hire offer.

My conclusion is either public transport, or fly into another non-Italian airport.
Very good information, useful to have it all collated in a single source.

I keep several sets of skis in Austria, so just put boots into my rucsac. For my late season trip last year, I decided to challenge Easyjet's nonsense rule that you cannot take ski boots in your hand baggage.

EJ have a standard hand baggage size that everyone is entitled to take on board. They also have an enhanced size, but, if the aircraft is full, they may ask, at the gate, that your large hand baggage is loaded into the hold.

I always pay the £8 for extended leg room. One feature of this is that you are classed as a Speedy Boarder ~ and SBs are not asked to put their luggage in the hold. I figured that, a) Security are not interested if their Xrays show ski boots, and b) EJ are not going to check bag contents at any stage.

This was for my third trip/fourth week of last season. It all worked well, and hence I achieved a long held ambition to go skiing just with hand baggage!

Now I have bought an extra pair of boots, I plan to leave a pair in Austria. Hence, traveling just with hand baggage might become routine.
The nearest main town is Aviemore, 12 miles from the ski area of Cairngorm. The Hilton Coylumbridge Hotel is closer, just over 8 miles from the ski area.

Glenshee has just lost it's only hotel in a fire, but it was a dump.

I live just over an hour from Glenshee, and because of the variable weather, I don't make any decisions to go until one or two days beforehand.

This was Glenshee Tiger run two seasons ago, I am stood on top of 2ft of snow:
Look to your left, and click on skiset. You will automatically have the J2ski discount included. I have had skiset DCs offered from elsewhere, and they have not beaten J2ski.

Heck, I would be delighted if I could get another 27 years skiing ~ in any boots! Or another 100+ weeks skiing from them! that will be doubtful though, if, as I pla, I leave one pair in Niederau, and one pair for other skiing.

Much depends on how much I like the vertical clip/quick spin release, compared with my Raichle/other Nordica horizontal clip, which has a minor disadvantage of having to be located.
The new Nordicas are really quick to get into.
I used to jest with my ski buddy Mel that I would be halfway down the first run, before he had clipped up!

The US ski team tend to train in Hochgurgl nowadays, but for a couple of seasons, around Hahnemkam time, they trained in Niederau in the Race Arena. They were interested in my Raichle ~ mainly because few skiers wore them, but Bill Johnston had won an Olympic Downhill gold medal wearing Raichle boots.

Obviously BJ must have heard I had a pair!

Actually, Adders is right, and we do have two puppies just now. One will go up for harness training in December. This one is just 8 weeks old, her name is Bracken, and we trained her father, Ashley, who went to stud in Leamington Spa centre. A bit frustrating, because you have to do the full training GD programme, just in case they don't make it on the breeding programme. On the other hand, Ashley has sired over 40 working GDs, so some comfort. (And he is still going strong, so to speak!)

I get away with this, because Ashley was into snowsports:
