New boots, new Guide Dog trainee.

In the same week, two pairs of Nordica boots, ordered from Germany, delivered in 5 days.
Also, one Guide Dog puppy, our ninth.

I had difficulty in locating these boots, so I dropped a note on a BASI site. CEM made some strong efforts, involving the UK Nordica rep, much appreciated. But it was Swingbeep that gave me the pointer to the shop in Mainz, Germany. I originally wanted a pair for Frau Mac, but then decided to buy a pair for myself, ~ I will leave these in Niederau, with my skis. (Thus enabling me to go skiing just with hand baggage!) Very grateful to Swingbeep!

Sniff.

No longer have a boy to do those menial jobs Dave?
Sign of the times I suppose.........

Young Andy! A boy! A boy?
Do you think I am made of money????

I will have you know, young man, that employing a butler and two gardeners is sufficient for those of us with more modest country estates.

I have just bought 2 pairs of Nordica boots from a company in Germany. Paid for on Wednesday night, and delivered to Scotland on Monday.

Frau Mac is replacing a long held pair of Nordicas, and I am adding a third pair to my Reichle and Nordica.
The Reichle need a tech fix. Full Tilt have indicated they could help.
I plan to leave one pair of the Nordicas in Niederau, along with 6 pairs of skis, and a small bag of clothes.
Last winter was the first that I had managed to travel to Niederau just with hand baggage. (On that occasion, it did include ski boots)
Without boots and skis, and given easyjet's rules, ski travel with just hand baggage should become a norm for me.

Paul, I confess that I find your actions to be reprehensible.I have previously posted on J2ski, that I allow my butler to wax my skis. Of course he is a level 4 waxer, one would not expect any less.

And then I do allow my butler to hoist the skis on my shoulder, but I insist, at great personal sacrifice, on carrying my own skis.

One benefit is that it allows the butler time to get on with his normal menial duties, such as dusting my spare ski poles,

Tongue in cheek, Brum.

This gave me a past memory flash.

A million years ago, in between ski seasons, I worked on contract for a company to design and build a machine for boxing and palletising Mars Bars.
At the end of the build, we were supplied with a small lorry load of Mars bars. The only instructions were ~ should any of the mars bars be damaged, they were not to be returned.
The result was within my design/build brief, even so, it was just amazing how few of the products survived the testing. In fact, only the final two batches worked, (like a dream)
I then had decisions to make..... how to get rid of one ton of Mars Bars......
Almost everyone in Niederau were given boxes of MBs, along with all relatives, running club friends, fell runners, and others. Our close Scottish relatives kept a gross of MBs in a box under the bed....

I was given a set of place mats, and printed on them were piste maps of places that I had skied in America, Canada, and Europe. Treasured.

Last year, I gave coffee mugs to all family and friends skiers, each with a photo of them skiing. I got this done at Vistaprint. (Two mugs to each person, allows for a breakage!)
