And now I can't stop -- just like a kid in a candy store !
The Fischer RX9 ski we see vertically front and center is a fairly new ski being from 2005-2006 season. It is hard to tell for sure but it looks to be 170cm in length with a radius of oH about 17M. The tip/waist/tail magic numbers are 109/69/96. This ski is recommended for the advanced/professional skier - like Pavel :!: Opps - here come the boss... bye  Mike |

I don't think anyone has yet named the model and year of the half Rossignol skis which are so obvious in Pavel's colage.
I see the "Rossignol T Power 9X pulsion" for 2002 in three places. Does this count for 3 items Pavel ?? The rear section (with riser binding mounting plate)is horizontal (level with the boot on the work surface) and it's front section above it on the poster (with the silver Sun Bug on the end) and another rear section (with riser binding mounting plate)is in a vertical position right of the ski just right of the plumb bob. (http://www.freeride.eu/review/view.php?id=578) So where is the other front section ????? Have you got it in Dorset ellistine?? Back to work now ... oh this is distracting... Mike  I had to edit this because ..... I just realized I did't give the magic numbers for this ski (not that it matters being cut in half :x) but the numbers I think are 20.1/181 and if my measurements are right then the tip/waist/tail numbers are 105/65/93 !! Love that magic :!: and if there were a binding on the ski the DIN would be "9" ! Right Jan :?:  Also there must be a styelized "T" aft of "ROSIGNOL" under the oval we see on the ski front portion. No...no if you look closely and lessen the brightness and increase the contrast a tad you can see this "T". |

Bandit,
I had mentioned this item and thought it was a "Sun Bug Visor Clip" for glasses, look here and see what you think: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120171900820&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:Watchlink:middle:ca But then the Blue tooth earpiece has a similar shape. We need Jan's resolution !!! And since we are into technology ... could that yellow item at the tip of the Rossignol ski on the right be Pavel's MP3 player or Ipod of sorts? There seems to be something in blue tangled in the area - maybe earphones? He drew our attention to it but I thought it was just the ski tip end piece  Mike 8) |

Pavel,
I had meant to add in the listing of these cards, their use. I'll do that here ... the use is for setting the vertical tension or "gap" between the binding and the boot sole. By getting just enough drag when turning the adjusting screw the binding will be set correctly. This is what the two photos right of the green ski and above the ski roof rack may be depecting - testing that adjustment. I do have a thin card I carry with me for just that purpose... Mike PS: we in Nova Scotia try to add differently so that the Federal government might help us more - ha! like that will happen... the affects of that fresh salt air!! |

Wow ... first place... that's a first in itself !!!
The hidden clues must be like the hidden driveways that there are road signs in warning of approaching one of these. Like the clues, they must be well hidden because I never see them :!: I'll try to add a few more items now but I can see that an experienced skier from years back would easily identify some of the bindings on display. Do I see a climbing skin standing vertically behind the sytrofoam sheet behind the heater on the right side of the picture? This is located between the ski ploe and the Rossi Bandit ski right below the "h" on the blue banner. Is that a waxing iron on the roof rack just left of the elastic band and the Scratch decal? The tiny gage make me think it is a minature compressor. Never-the-less it is a tool for tuning purposes. That's it for now - I have Jan's eyestrain !!! Mike |

Now gentlemen, I had promised myself that I would stay on track rather than wonder off - I am for sure not going to the shot gun - but where it is early in the search and Pavel has offered clues and hints, which I, like ellistine, find confusing - in that I thought we were after a list of items to present in a precise manner ... I would like to offer the following and seek your thoughts.
In Pavel's first set of hints, # 5 suggested we know the Gestalt theory of figure & ground. Basically, if "gestalt" refers to the "whole" of something being larger than the "parts" of which it is made; and the "figure" is what we see and the "ground" is present but for one reason or another we don't see it. Bandit's find of the "flying skier" for example. So, I'm suggesting that the picture shows us Pavel's skiing interests (present and past). This being the "whole". All the items in the picture (70 +) represent the parts that make up this "whole". The list of 15 items we are trying to assemble may not be the presented 70+ items but rather what they represent. Let me present my "wacked out" thinking like this. The "Whole" = 1) places Pavel has skied +2) types of skis he has used + 3)the tools he uses to repair and modify boots & skis + 4) The materials he uses for these modifications and repairs + 5) equipment he uses to transport sksis to these places + 6) the free spirit of a skier + 7) the skis of his past from which he gained his vast experience and skills + 8) the person he wants to share his passion for skiing the most - his wife + 9) the other people he loves to share the sport with - his children (remember his story of the leeks) + 10) the clothing that kept him warm (represented by the hat on top of the dark green ski) +10) how he looks back mindfully on his skiing experiences (as represented by the mirror through which we look at ourselves) + 11)the time he has spent in skiing (stop watch) +12) safety in skiing (DIN setting on an unmounted binding) +13 the agressiveness with which he skis (Bandit's flyingcliff skier + 14) the diary of his skiing + 15 his love of skiing - don't you find a warmth in this picture? We are looking at Pavel's world of skiing in very representative terms as if we are looking at "Alice in Wonderland". Anyway that is my theory of what we are after. We must step back and look at the whole and not just the parts - gestalt! In my strange thinking ellistine, I think the hint is that your girlfriend would want you to see that she is your best skiing "buddy" - even if she doesn't ski- just as is Pavel's wife to him. At least this is how it is in my house. If my wife didn't have a skiing interest, the sport would not mean as much to me. It is good to share an interest with the person you care for the most in order to gain the maximum from the interest. Now I'll go back to trying to list more of the 70+ items. Mike  |

You know guys, with all the pointers towards Rossi and with some of the sleepless nights of the spring quiz still in my mind, don't you think it strange that we haven't seen anything relating to the Mutix skis? Is there a hint in all of this..... but I refuse to get off track this time as I did then. List items we see, and maybe don't see and think spyder fleece!!
Mike  PS; ellistine - under the work surface below the boot I thought the item looked like one of those carpeted items with a 4" side wall for a cat or small dog. And to add an item or two; How about the mostly hidden Atomic ski chart for 2006 which is located on the back wall in the center of the photo. It is behind the vertical ski which runs behind the sheet with the two pictures. The top picture shows (I think) the test for side load on the front binding - but there is no boot present! To the left of the plumb bob is a ski with a binding I would guess is from the late 1940's or early 1950's. You can see the heel holding bar and the front arrangement on a pivot (fore and aft). It will be interesting to see how old this is. I'm really impressed how Bandit found the skier in mid flight off the cliff. Mike |

Too detailed indeed - we are loosing the forest in the trees ... and Pavel is loving it !!!
Rossignol has a ski on the market called the Scratch Steeze Ski available from backcountry.com But I have come to realize that all but this Mike fellow already knew this. And ellistine I have found google of some help with this quiz ... . It is my crutch in helping to clarify some of the things I think I see. What I've found on google confirms some findings. You must have found the "enlarge - enhance" software!! Mike |
