I would like to add another item as I don't recall anyone mentioning this. I may be wrong in that assumption ... The tail of the ski in a vertical position an the left side beneath the boot on the "bench" is a HEAD rear section ... more study is needed to name the model but it is the same ski as the HEAD ski from which the plumb bob is suspended with the hat on the ski tip more to the right in the photo.
And this has been something I was wondering about ... is the girl who's head is visible just above the Rossignol circle behind and left of the "old green ski" wearing a Sou'Wester or does she just look like that is what she's wearing?? And may I suggest that Jan's view of your DIN setting, Pavel, possibly should be worth a few more points  Mike |

Thanks again, Pavel.
I expect the wax was a "universal" sample from the ski hill ski shop. I can't remember the temperature of the day. And I'm suprised I didn't keep a waxing log back then. I will from here on out! Mike |

Thanks Pavel, I'll leave the hacksaw to cutting and not structuring.
But another question... you say to take off the minimum amount of wax. A couple of years ago when I waxed the skis - before your visit and not with candle wax - they stuck like glue for most of the morning's "skiing" until I worked the surface with a plastic pot scrubber I keep in the ski bag. I had left too much wax on the skis ... or perhaps there was not enough (if any structure) to brake the suction build up between the ski and the snow. Which do you think was my greater problem. I must have misunderstood. I thought we wanted to scrape all the wax off. If we leave lots of wax on the ski don't we need a fairly deep structured groovyness? Thanks Mike |

Pavel, I have a question I should have asked after the structuring lesson but I didn't and since you are speaking of structuring here again ... I'll ask it now.
You mentioned some of the brass tools for structuring to give a pattern of sorts... what might you say to a suggestion of using a very fine tooth hack saw blade to provide the grooviness? It would possibly need to be mounted for rigidity - but what do you think? If it is a good suggestion then it's my suggestion and it if is a bad idea, then it's one I heard from a snowboarder down the street :!: Mike :-) |

I just knew there had to be a ski related application for candle wax :!:

The others have gone into lurking mode Pavel!
I need better resolution; but what I see doesn't fit the sking context - actually it may not suit any context of this life. And these things may be more like the things you may have seen aided by the medications you received in your recent hospital visit. Three items I see, all on the Smugglers' Notch poster, I will hold back for when desperations sets in. For now I'll just mention a name which is visible and suggest the others take a look at this site for some pictures which we better not let the sensible people in our lives see. They may take our skis from us !! http://www.lordpeacock.com/06_07_Erik/index.htm#6 There are 9 pages full of the pictures of the places we all would love to ski. The name which is visible (partially) is Erik Roner. This is on the poster and just above the (about 7" long)section of a yellowish ski above the Tyro ski left of the Dynamic ski. Not sure if this counts but now I'm off to get a look at Erik's pictures now  Mike  |

Top right corner ?? What could Pavel want us to see there ???
There is what I suggested earlier may be a length of base material (over the top of the Salomon 9000's, Head's and Rossi's), A ski red ski pole which looks like Atomic "Red" with it's strap over the tip of the ELAN ski, and thehere is the yellow item on the tip of the Rossi ski in that area. I suggested it may be a music delivery item but I'm now thinking it may be a tuning device from Toko - being yellow in colour. Also we see in the background a Dynastar ski and boot chart - as wall paper. Then there is the long telescopic aluminum tube which may be similar to a treking "cane" or pole, in a vertical position next to the ski pole in fron of the ELAN ski. But I think Pavel is looking for something more hidden for us to pounce upon. But what could this be ??? Mike  |

I forgot .. I am the boss
One more for now,.... in an almost golden color, the Dynamic to the right of the mirror is their "Freecarve 16" from 1998-1999 season (the year I found skiing :P). My estimate is that it is 170cm in length with tip/waist/tail numbers being 105/62/94 with a radius of say 16M. And if there were a binding on it, the DIN would be set to "9" for photo purposes - otherwise set to "0" for storage times. Mike  |
