Lots yet to find !!!

The long thing hanging from the binding below the ski rack is a leather thong or strap used to tie the foot into the binding. More to come on that ... and possible changes to saying it is a strap so that the ski won't get away in case of a fall. It turns the ski into a helicopter's rotor blade!

I've been looking at the item above the sun bug glasses clip but don't have an answer yet.

I'm not sure what binding is the red one left of the gold ski (Dynamic ski (?).

But we still have another week to go !!

Pavel;

Let me be the first to say " I'm in - let's go get 'em!!!"

But now I get it, you not only want the followers of J2Ski to live with sleepless nights - you want the followers of the other sites to share in this joyous experience of not sleeping :!: And to that I say ... "let's go get 'em" :!: :!:

Helmets

When I began skiing I was on the ground more than on the skis and thought the snowboarders should have something harder than my head from which to glance off - so, I went to a helmet and have been glad of that move. There are dents in it now from not only the occasional head first landings but also from some over anxious lifties. The helmet is warmer than a toque and gives a better anchoring location for the goggles. I'm wearing the Grio 9 and even though I may look like a jockey without a horse I'm quite happy with it. More and more people are wearing helmets now and I expect in a very few years most hills may require their use.

For a last entry for today I would like to name the young gentleman wearing the brown knitted toque in the poster. He is located left of the Rossignol sticker left of the Fischer ski and slightly on a line below the boot on the bench. From what I can determine this is the big air freestyle skier Candide Thovex of France who won gold at the Winter X Cames Slopestyle for 2007. He was on Rossi Scratch skis.

I don't believe anyone has identified the section of a ski located behind the tip of the TYRO Megadrive ski. This is a section of a Rossignol T Power PPS ski with the left end of the cut section pointing to where the tip used to be. This foot long section is likely part of the tail section on the floor in a vertical direction to the right of the ski in front of the TYRO ski.

Also the black item of about 10" in length, located behind the tip of the Dynamic ski(right of the mirror) is a section of a ski positioned so that we are looking at the base side rather than the top sheet.

The Scratch decal on the ski rack and poster which Pavel tells us in the profile of a woman must indicate that Rossignol were about to give birth to a new ski line as this profile certainly shows the woman to be "expecting" something :!: Was this what Pavel illuded to when he suggested to ellistine that his girlfriend would want him to see something here ??

Now to identify some ski poles and those bindings which are so obvious

Pavel, would it be possible to "post" a few pictures showing the different grooves of structuring for the different layers of wax? Your medium may be my wide.

And in your reply to ellistine this question comes to mind - how do we keep the harder wax on the outermost layer from ripping the softer wax layer with it over the course of the morning skiing. Will the harder wax not bond solidly to the softer wax layer? I suppose this has a lot to do with swiftness of the smoothing process with the iron.

Thanks,

Mike

This is where I step way out on the limb and make a couple of desperate guesses.

The "old Green" ski as it has come to be known - which is located vertivally at aboout the photo's center is a Lund ski dating to about 1920 at which time it was considered "state - of- the - art" They were manufactured in St. Paul, Minn in a company founded by Christian A. Lund around 1911. What gives me reason to name them as Lund skis is the pair of lines which cross at the tip and pass over the decal level with the "RX9" of the Fischer ski. The decal is that of a skier crouching into a left turn with poles out behind him. Some say this is a decal of Sir Arnold Lunn - "inventor of modern ski racing". The decal of the skier (which is really difficult to see) includes Lund in a script above the skier pictured. The skis are about 81 inches long and 3" wide - just a guess.

The binding on the ski may be a Dorve binding of about 1930's but more likely it is an early Sears toe release binding of about 1950.

The other of pair of this ski is found on the ceiling to the right running out of the picture at close to the top right corner from the tip of the Dynamic ski.

Even if these aren't what I'm guessing they are .. it was interesting coming up with this wild guess and learning of Sir Arnold Lunn.

Also I want to add to this submission that the HEAD ski to the right which runs vertically to the base material near the ceiling is the front section of the rear seciton on the left side beneath the boot on the bench. Still don't have a model name or year for them.

WOW ! The addition of pictures will make a huge difference.

Now we can see that ellistine is quite the young handsome dude, Pavel. But is the smile on his face the results of a great day on the skis or from the beverage in his right hand. It certainly isn't Guinness and looks more like Harp or Kilkenny but likely being on the eastern side of the English Channel I'm betting his preference may be Bass Ale.

And since I'm betting I'll place my "guess" that the center liner is low end, the right boot liner is middle of the road quality and the left end liner is the quality one.

This picture addition is going to be good!! :!:
