Whatever the rights, wrongs and possible outcomes of the current situation the "crisis" seems to be a UK phenomenon.
Here in France there is none of the "end of the world, hair tearing, running around screaming" type of reaction. Of course this could just be delusional behaviour (not for the first time) but the sense of panic is not here, not in the mountains anyway. The mountains will always be here and so will the skiing, whatever currency is used. Whether it will more or less expensive, who can say, though I am sure that small, independent companies will try to maintain the value even if the price changes. Bon Ski! |

Nice pic. Hope its like that on thursday when the pistes open! |

Its unlikely to have rails etc. as its on the edge of the domaine and through the trees. Pretty run in good conditions. You are also looking at an old piste map. This year's one is here: http://www.alpedhuez.com/hiver/fr/98/plans-des-pistes.html It is just marked as a "normal" black (whatever that is). FYI there is a new blue piste leading down into Oz en Oisans to add to the variations. |

Try this: http://www.stbma.fr/Saison its in French, but the numbers are there. Then click on the UK flag for the English site and book from there. That should work. Bon ski! |

The only thing that drivs me nuts about polarised lenses, which I have in my prescrption sunglasses, is that you can't see the LCD screens that are on cameras, videos, and some information screens etc. without twisting your head around 45 degrees.
Otherwise I like them. My goggles, which I use most of the time and are not polarised, are great too and work well in poor light conditions. |

Don't despair!
You are not the only one and there are solutions. I eventually had my boots foamed as I have VERY strange ankles and one leg shorter than the other due to a high speed accident (regrettably not on the snow, so no bragging rights). There are really good boot fitters out there who will fit you into the boots of your dreams. On the downside, its not cheap. I haven't lived in the UK for a long time, so I don't have any contacts, but I hear good things about SnR and had some boots fitted there years ago. No doubt some other j2skier will have the answer. Good luck. |
