Chamonix?

Quelques bonnes pentes...accès facile.
Generally, those who deem themselves to be high intermediate skieers after just two weeks of skiing over the past few years, then seem to have huge problems dealing with said conditions, and I have seen many people carried off the mountain with leg injuries as a result.

After two weeks? They are certainly high on something!
The picture is taken on a green run, currently un-pisted as its no longer the French school holidays.
Avalanche level 4 today which rules out any steep off-piste but fortunately there are some easy, gentle slopes in Alpe d'Huez that are still fun to cruise down between the pistes.

Soft and easy off-piste...

Another thing...following on from the previous excellent posts...ski boot maintenance.
Not relevant for renters but many skiers buy their boots as a lifetime investment.
A couple of weeks ago I noticed that I was having problems closing the bindings but put this down to minor snow build up and stamped them in.
Then I had a look at the wear on the heel (thought I was going to need new boots) but a quick search for spare parts on the Internet I found and ordered replacements for a total cost of 27GBP.
I have just replaced the heel and toe pieces on my 12 year old boots. I've probably skied about 700 days/100 weeks on the boots in that time and obviously walking across carparks and down the odd road has had its effects.
I still get a thrill (a very small one) when I see an old pair of SX80s and their like but I do wonder what kind of state those boots are in.
Skiing holidays in a changing climate

Done, but some of the questions are very badly thought out. The amount of water to cover 1 hectare (I paraphrase)? How deep? It will take a great deal more to cover it to a depth of 1m rather than 1cm.
Also, artificial snow is used by resorts to improve the quality of natural snow, not just to make pistes for skiers.
It should also be noted that many ski resorts are situated in areas with very high precipitation which has promted the construction of large hydroelectric dams and power stations; the water and the electricity are natural and local resources.
Asking respondents to guess the amounts of water and electricity consumed is a cheap way to create a "skiers cluless about environmental impact" headlines.
Apart from all that, I wish you well with your research and look forward to seeing the results.
Improving Helmets and Goggles

Completed.
As a wearer of glasses (can't wear contacts) the small range of OTG goggles is always restricting my choice. I ski in 2 helmets (no, not at the same time), one with a visor which works well when skiing on piste and in good weather. In bad weather, snowing etc. or when skiing steep and deep I wear good quality Scott goggles with a helmet.
