i just dont think they have enough skiers and boarders during the week to justify the costs of staff etc - the funicular railway is open year round, so thats why it is open during the week.
They plan to be open weekends throughout May, and into June if there is the demand. We really should take advantage of the amazing conditions we have right on our doorstep (well for those of us in Scotland anyway) |

it has been an awesome season, you really have missed out!!
Its not too late though..Cairngorm will be open Thursdays to Mondays throughout May, and into June if demand remains for it. Currently still about 150cm depths at the mid station...unbelievable!! |

unless you can make a trip up to Scotland in the next month or so - Cairngorm still going strong!!
Open Thursday-Mondays throughout May, and into June if there is still demand, and snow (currently still about 150cm at mid station). Best website to check out is Winter Highland. |

thats a shame - i was up in Aviemore at the weekend and the conditions at Cairngorm on Saturday were brilliant! Mid station was reporting depths of 210cm, and a few cm forecast for tomorrow or the next day.
If you can make it that far north in the next couple of weeks, the conditions should still be pretty good. Got my fingers crossed for one last trip up before the end of April |

very jealous of those heading away soon, i got back from Mayrhofen a week ago and am still suffering major post snow blues!!
Never mind, can now focus on what is probably going to be one last trip to the scottish mountains next weekend - Cairngorm is even expecting some fresh snow in the next couple of days!! |

I was out in Mayrhofen last week - had an awesome time. Brilliant resort, with loads for all abilities. Had loads of fun doing an off piste run under the 150er Tux after a couple of feet of fresh powder. Wouldnt advise that though, unless you are with someone who knows the way.
The red run all the way down Ahorn was still very much ski-able, and the snow everywhere was still great. Loved loads of the runs on Penken where you are spoilt for choice really. Red runs 7,2,3 are great, and the park was brilliant fun. My only slight gripe is that we stayed in the Villa Strass, next to Penken Gondola station, and it was pretty noisy at night!! We were out most nights to be fair, but when we werent, we were woken up constantly through the night. Loved the resort, but if you are planning on getting some sleep, i would stay somewhere off the main street! |
