yeah, i'd recommend Chamonix. Easyjet to Geneva and then its only an hour and a half transfer. You can find cheap accomodation, and there are so many pistes to keep you occupied, or endless off piste if that is your thing.
There will also be plenty of snow there at that time - the season finishes in mid May but only because they have to let the seasonal staff away, not because there is no snow!! |

surely you could manage another trip?? EVen a long weekend in Scotland - conditions here are the best they have been this early in the season for years! Check out SKi Scotland website for webcam evidence!

i have to say that it makes perfect sense to wear a helmet, and although i took a while to come round to the idea, I usually do now wear it. It does take a bit of getting used to but would you go downhill mountain biking at the same speed without wearing a helmet?!

forgot to say - make sure you get yourself to Le Caveux for the best pizza anywhere!! Its a bit hidden, but is underneath a chinese restaurant on one of the main streets - sorry, i cant remember the name of it but if you ask about, somebody will be able to point you in the right direction!

The conditions in the scottish resorts are the best early season conditions for years. ALthough you may get a windy or very cold day, if you are UK based, its much better than the 20 second run you get at an indoor dome!! Just make sure to wrap up warm!!

hmmm...difficult one. I have done self catering, and hotel (b&b and half board) and would have to say my favourite has been half board hotel. That way you dont have to sit down to dinner with strangers (as in catered chalet unless you have a big enough group to take the whole chalet), but you still get the benefit of all meals being cooked etc. The facilities a hotel can offer are also generally a bit better (its always good having a pool, steam room etc to chill in at the end of a day on the piste).
WHatever you end up going for, i'm sure you will have a great time and wonder why it has been 10 years since you last went! |

Chamonix is a great resort - i can almost guarantee that you will go back again and again after this trip!! Loads of challenging pisted runs, but the backcountry off piste is out of this world when the conditions are right.
In terms of nightlife, very lively if thats what you are looking for. Check out Le Pub on the main street. Have fun. |
