Heading to Chamonix at the weekend. ANybody there just now that can give me an up to date snow report?
Heard that the best conditions may still be over in Courmayeur, but is that still the case? Cheers |

Apartments or hotels give you a bit more freedom as to when you want to get up, eat breakfast, dinner etc. They also generally have a pool or steamroom/sauna to relax after a day on the slope.
Chalet board means that breakfast is only served for a short time, and dinner is at a set time. This is fine, unless of course you have had a heavy night, and dont really feel like getting up just yet!! Or fancy a few beers straight off the slopes, and maybe just want a late dinner. They also won't have a pool, although some will have a hot tub. You also have to sit down for dinner with randoms (unless you are taking up the whole chalet). This can be good or bad, its a total lottery who you will end up sharing with. As for Chamonix, it is awesome. You will have a great time. |

I would normally recommend Chamonix, France. Great resort, and the lifts dont close until mid May usually, and that is only as they have to let the seasonal workers away. There is still plenty snow then.
However, if you dont want to go to France...try Kaprun, Saas Fee or Zermatt. |

I love Mayrhofen, which is only an hour and a half or so from Innsbruck, but it depends whether you want to go that far.

Really great resort, and conditions sound good at the moment. You will have an amazing time.
And yeah, Paddy McGinty's good for a beer after a 'hard day' on the slopes!! |

Just get a long weekend over to Scotland - we've got plenty snow, and should be great conditions over the next month or two!!
Back to the original post though...6 weeks today until Chamonix! |
