Nice piste cruising, Tone. It looks like a place I'd like to visit, but perhaps that down to skillful editing!

Have to say the webcams from the Alpbachtal look a bit more like winter this morning after snow yesterday!
Bad Gastein - brief summary

Good write up, Tone. Thanks and sorry the snow wasn't great but it does sound like you did your best! Not sure this area appeals much having read your write up. I am keen to return to Austria but worried about the weather (although it was snowing in some places this morning, at last!)

Yes, but apart from Sir Steve and Goughie, I've never heard or seen any of the others! Z-list, or what!
Courmayeur

La Pub - it might be the reps second home, but it's a bit of a dump!

With a car in the Aosta Valley, you could spend more time skiing at other resorts and less time at Courmayeur! My choice would be Pila and La Thuile for a day (get into France that way). Parking at the Aosta gondola is easy for Pila and relatively easy in La Thuile as well.
Skiing the Shilthorn

The Schilthorn is moderately steep for a black run and quite narrow at the top before widening and flattening out towards the top of the Berg lift. You can then choose to continue your descent on blues or blacks. Here's a tip: wait until the contents of the cable car to Piz Gloria (the revolving restaurant) have cleared the run - you will then have it all to yourself. I loved it - just the right mixture of challenge and pleasure! Murren, by the way, is beautiful but you'll be doing well to find 'good value' places to stay. Accommodation is good quality, generally, but you have to pay a premium.

Thank you; that's helpful. Encouraged by today's webcams and the snow falling.

Did a day in Courmayeur; didn't really float my particular boat, I'm afraid.
