Should have read:
"so sad Ross. Did they establish the cause of death?" "if I could get a class that wasn't filled with late menopausal women... " Should never have to explain the punch lines, I think you are having me on Ross! |

Steinbock have a commanding presence, I guess they are just reminding us of who is boss.

I have it a higher authority, that big dumps of snow will arrive over Austria during the week preceeding 16th January, and cease on the morning of the 17th.

Caron,
I guess a big issue for you just now, is that you really don't know how it's all going to happen for you. So you may have some angst, at least until you get going, and you re-discover that smooth ski glide! Then you can go skiing with your OH and Grace! I seem to recall you have several years experience. You might find that playing on the nursury will not be enough. There are two fairly easy T bar runs at the top, (not beginners, next stage up), both in the sun all day, with a Joch alm between them. Vodkas verboten during the day! You might have a play at the top, enjoy the views, get your confidence levels up, come down on the Gondola.... Then vodka is permitted. My OH spent most of last week, on these two runs, in the warm sunshine alternating a couple of runs with a hot chocolate, (she told me...) If it's good for broken legs.... No harm with carrying a couple of heat pads. Hey, it's going to be great! |

Karen, the strength of north facing resorts is better quality, and longer lasting snow. In early January the sun doesn't get onto the slopes, although it is certainly a sun trap on the top slopes. By February, the lower slopes, ie where the classes are, will get the sun, for most of the day. (When the sun is out!) I think that variety of skiing is an attitude. I like big resorts, especially where you can go out for the day and not do the same run twice. Using your own point, you would be fearful of this, because you would be out of touch with young ones. As Tony_H might say, "Achtung, Woman logic! I expect to do 20 runs a day down the Marbachjoch. Must have done them all 10,000 times. That's 10,000 different ways down, every run is a little adventure. I love every turn. Gosh darn, you have me ski dreaming again, only 9 days to go.... |
