Re anti-inflammatories, I usually manage for about 3 days before the dodgy fills with fluid. I then take Ibuprofen, 400gm, max 3 x a day. This controls most of the worst bits. If I go off piste, I know I'm in for a grim couple of days, but if the run was a good one, what the heck.
The point about the upper runs, although a bit steeper, the snow quality is much better, allowing you to ski more in control. You will know for yourself after you have completed a few runs at the bottom. Judging by the work you have put in, I have the impression that you have built up good leg strength, so stay optimistic. My circumstances have changed slightly in the past week, when it emerged that my ski buddy, Mel, has had to call off his winter skiing. Unfortunately he has to undergo some treatment for a long standing illness. So for my first week, I'll be racing myself! In my second week, will be racing my two sons, who both think they are quicker than me! My competitive bit says go for it, my fatherly bit says, let them win, otherwise they will go too quickly, and maybe have an accident. It's a jungle. |

I'm afraid I don't know about booster seats, Karen. You will be able to find out through AA and RAC europe sites. You will need to check the law for all countries through which you will travel.

Not a Munro-bagger, just a big love for mountains, especially Scotland, Austria and Switzerland. All different characters, all wonderful.

I have the best of both worlds, Scottish hill walking, tennis, guide dogs, family & friends in Scotland. For the winter, skiing, Niederau, painting, Austrian friends amd a very understanding OH. I would stay for the winter, but that would not fit with home life. So I am content. Only 8 days to go. |

Cannot really comment on where to stay. In 3 hours you might be somewhere just west of Munich ~ maybe an autobahn restplace. The advantage of night driving is less traffic, the disadvantage is that most of it is heavy trucks.
When you are driving to Niederau, stop at a testplace motel, and pick up a motel booklet, for locations and prices. On the way back, you can phone ahead. Have you checked if there is any leeway on your ferry, either for a later service, or later check in? |

Easyjet Edinburgh to Munich, outwards 28th Mar £41, Inwards £41, or £36 if you leave on Sunday.
If you have any airmiles, carhire is free. Just leaves you with a location to aim for. The higher locations in Tirol will still be open, as will Stubai. Further afield Obertauern (guessing 3 to 4 hour drive), would fit the bill. High resort, at 1740m, and 60 km of blues, 36km reds. |
