I am off to Meribel next week for my second week this winter but lets be honest, I need more!
The only extra time off i can get is a long weekend on about the 4th of April.I have never skied this late before so need some guidence on where to go. We will fly to Geneva,Grenoble or anywhere that Ryanair will fly to from Dublin. I was thinking of france again but would like to go somewhere else as i have only ever skied France or Italy and want to see more. So if anyone has ideas for me I would be very gratefull. Thanks...gar :D |

Hi tspill,
The main thing is that you are going skiing again and you seem keen to progress and improve. Your question is can you ski a red slope on your second week.Of course you can!! The thing I notice with first time skiers is that they seem to be very concerned about the colour of the slope they are about to try to ski down.I have skiied a number of blue slopes that would test the best of skiers and skied some black slopes that are really not very hard at all. What I am trying to say is dont worry about the colour of the piste, just concentrate on improving and having fun. I only started to ski 4 years ago at the age of 29, so was a late starter but I was hooked straight away.I have been twice or 3 times each year since and my only regret is that I left it so late to start. Learning to ski is like learning to drive,it can be a bit frustrating but when it clicks there is nothing better. Enjoy. :D |

I`m from Dublin and we have had a smoking ban for the last 3 or 4 years and it really works. Its the only thing that the Irish government have got right!
I was in Alpe d`Huez just before christmas and you really notice the smell of stale smoke on your clothes the next day.The sooner that the ski resorts ban smoking in bars and resturants the better. Rant over....Happy new year :) |
