Trencher, Do you reckon it is a good idea to buy on e bay? Thanks again,I really want to get the right skis to suit me and help me improve. Gar. :) |

I need a bit of help here.
I have been skiing for the last few years and now need to buy ski`s,but I have no idea where to start. I ski mainly on piste but would like to try a bit more off piste action this winter. Of all the rental ski`s I have used the best were a short (154) pair of salomon race skis but I have really got no idea what type I should buy. If anyone has some ideas for me I would be very gratefull. I live in Ireland so have very limited access to ski shops and will probably buy a pair on my next ski holiday. I am 5 foot 7 and weigh about 12 stone Any help would be great.... :) |

I was in Isola last year for a week and found the skiing great but the resort is pretty awfull. The slopes are very good for intermediate or beginner skiing and you can ski in ski out from most of the hotels and the lift system is also very good. The problem with the resort is there is nothing to do at night. There is a couple of very expensive bars and a couple of resturants but no real night life to speak of.I was there with a few lads and we had a really quiet time as there was nothing else to do!
The skiing is good though and I would go back for a few days as it is so handy from Nice airport(1:45 mins by coach) so if its just a few days on the slopes you will be ok. Dont let me put you off going, just know that the nightlife is very limited. I hope you enjoy . Gareth. |

Hi,
I was in Flaine for 3 days but we only got to ski 10 or 12 runs because there was so little snow,so I really cant tell you what its like!the mountain looks good though and once you are up there it has a great view and there is a couple of choices of piste. The resort itself is pretty awfull to look at but we stayed in Les Carroz (10 mins down the mountain) which has a lot more charm and seems to hace a bit more to do too. Sorry i dont have any better info for you but when you are in a resort with no snow its hard to come back with a good impression of it. Regards and enjoy your skiing. gareth. :-) |
