Hi David, I went to Isola about 5 years ago for 6 days and had a great time. It was only my second week of skiing and I really enjoyed it as most of the mountain is easy enough and by the sounds of your group would be perfect with plenty to keep you happy for the week. The snow record is excellent as the resort is at 2000mts and you should have no problems in January. All of the accomodation is in about 4 or 5 hotels that are all linked together and there not great and the resort is far from pretty. Mind you there is ski in & ski out in pretty much every hotel and if your kids are young it would be very safe. Price wise is same as rest of France ie; not cheap at all, about 7 or 8 euro for a beer.
Its very easy to get there as the bus goes from Nice airport and only takes about 1 hour 40mins. I was there in Jan and it was seriously cold every day. I liked it but would only go for a quick weekend now but for your needs it sounds spot on. Gar. |

Very cool.
If you have Rush HD on sky channel 452 there is some really cool ski stuff. Nomads or Focused are both excellent :D |

Horrible place. Looks like a old eastern block flat complex.

Bandit, I think you may have a point. I reckon I should just quit while I'm down.
Wickers, I suppose the reason why I think they are too short for me is because of advice from the folk on here and others. I have obviously not skiied them yet so have no idea if I will like them or not. The reason I bought them (beside too much wine) is because I have a pair of Atomic Izor 9:7's and while there good on piste their not so good over the bumps and in powder and I reckon I need something a bit more suited to everything. My problem is that while I love skiing and can manage to get down anything I really dont know enough about the technical side of it all. I used to race karts and cars years ago but would still have idae how an engine works. :? What kind of skis do you all use and why??? In hope,Gar. |

Like it Pablo, colour is indeed very important. :D
My Din setting on my other skis is 6. Thats about as technical as I get. I have a pair of Atomic Izor 9:7 that I have never liked (another great e-bay moment) and could take the bindings off them and put on the new ones. It gets worse. The skis I bought are only 157cm and I am 5 foot 8 and about 12 stone so I reckon they are to short. I need guidence.... :( |

I have just bought a pair of Atomic Nomad Highnoon skis without any bindings (e-bay is very dangerous!) and I need some bindings.
Anyone have any to sell me? Or any suggestions? I'm in Dublin and we are not blessed with too many great ski equipment shops so i am very limited to what I can get my hands on. I need to stop looking on e-bay with a hangover. Gar. |

In Ireland we have Difene (brand of Dicolfenac) 4% spray gel. Its 4 times stronger than regular dicolfenac gel and penitrates 20 times deeper. No ski trip should be without it. I tore my ACL a year and a half ago and skiied for 2 days on it.
Best pain killer ever but rose is right the most efective and fastest acting is a suppository. |
